Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The difference between the teams last night was that Souths' half price fullback contributed to their attack and our million dollar man was conspicuous by his absence.
During that phase where we had 7 sets on the Souths line I had to check if Bula was still on the field. Jye Gray on the other hand just involves himself and makes things happen.
Bula will never be that player.
Time to move on.

I know I've said this about 102 times before, here is the 103'rd....I have been told from a very reliable Bulldogs person who works for the Bulldogs football Administration that Gus is hell bent on getting Bula to the Dogs. Bula and his Agent (Moses) have agreed IF the Tigers allow Bula to negotiate or IF the Tigers don't take up their option in May, he will sign with the Dogs for 3 years....I'm told Bula has verbally agreed to joining the Dogs for 3 years if these scenarios play out.

Based on his 2 ordinary performances so far this year, to me, it appears Bula's mind is elsewhere. If I were the club I'd be putting a deadline of 2 weeks for Bula to declare his position to the 2 contract offers the WT put in place, should he reject these give him permession to talk elsewhere and drop him to KOE for the rest of the year...(I promise this will be the last time I post this info, lol)....

they say a verbal contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on … Im sure Gus watches our games too, and he might be having second thoughts about signing him for three years…

Dropping Bula to reserve grade isn’t going to help us win games this year either by the way

wish we had traded Fonua for Mitch Barnett, now might as well now go for cooper Clarke or maybe even Spencer
Nope.

Bennett brings a lot.
But I don't want to wreck this playing group and what the team has built.

I think Benji is going for a fortres mentality. Wests Tigers vs everyone else. That will only work with fewer player changes and no punting of the core group...without good reason.

The bulldogs are discovering that playing cap games ruins team morale.

100% agree! Stay strong guys. Can’t help injuries. That’s why we’ve signed depth. For situations like this.

We’re going to be ok.

Well I think we have to be realistic

We had to have a good run without injuries to be really competitive.

Round 2 - effectively no 1st choice centres played

Round 3
- no first choice centres played
- first choice wingers played out of position
- 2nd choice wingers played

Round 4
- no first choice centres
- no first choice halves
- first choice wingers out of position again
- 2nd choice wingers play

Can’t expect miracles (wins) for the next month

Then we play bronco, raiders, sharks, storm.

Realistically could be 4 points after 10 rounds

Bula is a strange one.
He looks lost in our attack structure (or lack of) which is more to do with structure than anything else.

I watched him closely on the replays.

Last week he wasn’t as off as people made out when watching the replay, this week he was in positions but got crap ball and had zero shape either side of him so was always in a 2 defender v him position. AD had zero organization or shape on his side - KPP wasn’t even used.

Bula’s work effort isn’t lacking as well he is having decent coverage on the park, hitups and ball handles.

He is putting effort in, if he was clocked off he wouldn’t be. Example is he wouldn’t have sprinted across to prevent Wighton potential try off the grubber or even attempt to chase through on the bomb which Grey beat him at the end.

He is a very different style of fullback to most in the league probably the closest to his style is Kennedy.
Which we often try to compare to the speed, smaller moulds.

The issue is - does Bula have the ability to create something out of nothing consistently & can he elevate his game to another level. To do that though he needs some space which often gets created by formations and others around him

I haven’t seen a replay of the game yet …so I can’t comment about last nights game

He has the talent , but for whatever the reason people might have. he is not getting it done …and it goes beyond this season to the last couple actually ..

To me , it’s always a red flag when a player comes on the scene, has a big first year and then can rarely show that form again …the opposition has worked you out and you haven’t been able to respond …is this on he coaches too? Probably yes, they don’t seem to know how to use him to get the most out of him

When Cody put in the grubber on johnston's side late in the second half with 12 to go, literally no urgency for Bula to even get there, where was Bula positioned at the back?

Literally no urgency whatsoever

Not too sure Bula helps us win games either?
Just going through the motions. Just like Stefano, needs to go if not a part of the crocodile roll.
His head is elsewhere. We can do better for less dollars.

I have heard rumours from an nrl player that they believe Bula will be signing with the Dogs too.
if it is true he is not irreplaceable

The club bought Attard, who has plenty of upside....Blood him in the role, just like the club did with Bula 3 years ago...he went straight into FG and had a great year...Attard could do the same...

The difference being they were a spoon team back then and Bula was 21 at the time whilst Attard is 19

Not the worst idea though I don’t see it happening
