OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I love reading threads like this.
ALL of you were on your knees for this kid when he was playing worse footy than he is now.
I think the kid makes it - on his efforts alone.
I still don’t know it’s in the halves though?

I wish him well, he was a kid,
poorly advised and promoted into NRL far too early by an inexperienced coach that if he had his time over may not make that same decision.

Reality is, at any other club the likes of Miller, Tallyn and Lachie are just making their way into ressies.
At ours they’re gifted top 30 contracts.

100%.
I also agree he’ll make it. I suggested a couple of years ago he could be a Brad Mackay styled lock. He isn’t a half but he is a footballer. He is usually trying and very fit. The lack of development has stunted him but he should recover.

Team Galvin made a massive mistake going to the Dogs. If he had gone to Parra he would be playing no6 outside Moses and he would not be burden with kicking or directing play. All he would have to do is run off Moses or at worst control the non dominant edge. He could have learned his trade off arguably the second best playmaker in the comp. I guess if he had any brains he would have taken Richo’s offer and played 6 outside Luai, but Iam glad he didn’t

I think 13 all day he needs another offseason Cam Murray style of player would be a great link man

to be fair, he was offering more than anyone else at the time so there was some excitement there, but it didn't last long and money v performance would have killed our cap - glad he pissed off despite being a supporter early on.

Do you also love reading the HBG goons talk about how Richo botched his deal and we couldn't sign him long-term? I just wonder what the Richo rhetoric would have been if Galvin was soaking up a million bucks worth of salary cap right now.

He is a very very fit young footy player that is 6foot 5 and has a high work rate, a desire to win and has all the basic skills of a modern league player in that he has good hands , can pass both sides and has a decent kicking game.. pathways of all the strong clubs have similar players coming through, some defend better though, but Galvan’s fitness is elite.. savala is an upgrade imo ,,, imo Galvin could develop into a Garry Larson or David fairleigh or Graig Fitzgibbon type forward, but he is still young and raw.. I have no doubt he willl have a decent and lengthy NRL career but he was never ever in the Fittler , Benji, Ponga, Trbjevic, Lockyer type prodigy and Gus saw Freddy and Alexander even and Trent Barrett come through so for him to call him the greatest ever teenage talent to me indicates Gus is either deep into Alzheimer’s or was glazing Galvin becsue he already had a deal agreed to..

Can’t believe people from this club are still so concerned about this guy. He left, it stank, he stinks, we are actually in a better position without him. Who cares what he is or isn’t doing at the Dogs. That’s their problem. We have more than enough talent to replace him, especially as a half.

Brad Mackay was a different mind set. No social media back then. Galvin is good. Just he wanted to be the over night 🌙 hero. He wanted instant gratification. He wanted all his lollies at once. Once he gets his mind right - the kid will flourish.

The whole Galvin thing was a result of the media wanting another kid to blow up as the next super star. If he was allowed to slowly develop he would probably end up a superior footballer. In saying that what apprentice gets about 800g a year and that was only due to media hype
