We're still playing with a bit of a patchwork backline.
Our two wingers are in the centres and we have two backups on the wing.
It's tough to be critical of the attack until we're back closer to full strength.
Madden however led us around the park well. The forward pack's performance is also a reflection of the halfback organising them. I felt our structure was good yesterday and we continually made it over the advantage line in attack. Throw in what was an effective kicking game, and it all points to Madden having a very strong impact.

Goes to show the value of biding your time behind a quality halfback (Reynolds).

Madden’s goal kicking was the difference between winning and losing. Very cool under pressure.
Madden also profiles as the kind of player who will peak later in his career too. He's physically very underwhelming, but does the little things right.
Made even better by TDS missing his kicking from the sideline
Similar to Adam Reynolds in many ways, I’d like to see him take on the line a few times this weekend, just to put the D in two minds.

Would love just 2 weeks with Jock next to Luai. Then I think we'd know for sure what combo has the most potential to have us in the right half of the ladder.
Jock doesn't have to the perfect 7 at his presumed salary, he just has to be our best 7 to justify his spot and I think atm he is. At the very least he will keep AD honest and all of this is good for the club!

Yes, seems to have ice in the veins. Besides his kicking skill, he also runs deep into the line in attack which commits defenders, creating space for Douehi and the like.

Agreed, but for all the shit I've seen flung at him on this forum, I thought Hastings did a good job for us at 7 when he was here. He was just surrounded by one of the worst teams we've ever fielded. I wish we had have kept him for the length of his contract rather than swapping him for Klemmer, who turned out to be a pretty forgettable signing.

He actually did a couple of times v Parra, once almost scoring. But he doesn't do it much.
Can’t wait to see Luai in that space with some weapons on our edges.

If they play on the same side, yes!
Benji has said he wants Luai playing both sides this year.
