He’s playing more minutes and added an offload and a nice little swerve before the defensive line. That’s all he ever needed to advance from solid first grader to elite.

Our 4 young Macca seems to me to have lost his confidence , each run he looks like he is hurt when getting up to play he ball, he needs to go back to reserves and build up again, if May is ready next week swap them . This is not a pick on the kid he just looks a bit lost

Yes he is struggling.
I don’t know why TF we keep playing him at centre when he looked so dangerous on the wing.
The kid has talent but is not having a happy year whilst those around him are killing it.
This is a chance for Benji to show some leadership.

Can’t help but think we showed our hand with him in the trials and teams have been targeting him ever since. He never seems to have any room to move when he receives the ball. Been playing at centre too after playing so well on the wing, so that’s probably had an effect also.

Assuming he is not carrying an injury …I want to see young Maka on the wing next week where he trained during the offseason …hopefully with Herbert playing well and Taylan likely back that can be arranged ..also means you could leave both Luke and Skelton in NSW Cup

I will put my hand up for not being coach Benji’s biggest fan but credit where it is due, the team certainly seem to be playing for him now. I think maybe it has a lot to do with him being less of a buddy & more of a coach now. He is using the bench better this year too. The guys look happier, fitter & are playing like a team Benji & the training staff are doing a great job & I hope it continues to improve.

Apart from the Skelton blunder our discipline was through the roof

If Makasini catches that the boys are 20m or more downfield. They were ahead enough on the scoreboard, it shows they've got confidence by the bucket load this year!

I think Maka is doing well for 18 but agree he looks like he needs a break. Personally I’d give him a week off then bring him back on the wing with Taylan. Can’t expect him to play every game so a week off now or soon is about half way between our first game and our next bye (my god round 1 bye is a proper unlucky one).

He is up to it physically which I think is the biggest test but would be the first time in his life he can’t just run over players so he obviously needs to adapt and get use to that. Hell of a talent though, no doubt about that.

We had nearly 60% possession and ran nearly twice as many metres as them, but only got 1 six-again in the whole game.

That's a pleasing part of their game of late, they are eating metres. Their metre ran rate today is exceptional considering the lack of 6 agains.

Also I thought the Ref, bar a blatant Knights forward pass did very well controlling the game.

Trials are.one thing...real NRL is a different kettle of fish.
Hes been targetted and battered heaps...maybe when May is.back.he can have a spell?

We started clock watching, they didnt deserve to score 22. We went to the sheds early.

I reckon they clocked off as much too avoid injury as anything else, it couldn't have been just fatigue.

The senior players were probably already thinking about the Broncos game by the 70th minute.

One thing that really worries me is losing Api - and it's inevitable. Playing huge (but quality) minutes, how much can his body handle?

It's the main reason why I wanted Tallyn to remain. He's better than Hope and Haywood isn't quite ready.

Benji mentioned in his presser that he was happy with the first 60 but not so happy with the last 20 when they let tries in but said they will work on that. He also mentioned Skelton’s brain explosion. He doesn’t think Fainu’s injury is too bad but he will have scans tomorrow. He never actually said what the injury was.

Benji is just so impressive.
On one hand I love how unrelenting he is. On the other, celebrate the wins! Show some emotion and crack a smile Benj!
Sure, the job isn’t done, but look at what you have achieved already:
-We are equal top.
-You have already taken this team to equal wins from ‘22 and ‘23, and it’s only round 6!
-First time we have won three in a row in 8 seasons.
- For the first time in ages we have some depth and have had excellent cover for injured stars.
- Twal!!!
