He made his debut last week when they were punished by the Phins. He was definitely not out of place at NRL level but he was playing in a team that was poor across the park.

Like many have said, picking Mason at fullback is defensive suicide, just like putting Tavana and Toa together on the right last week. Seriously Benji, what are you thinking? You're picking a guy who failed under the high ball in NRL previously and has been playing centre in Cup. Coupled with this, he is a weak tackler. You obviously like the guy but you have to play the percentages when we're down on troops! Luke L fullback and Skelton back on the wing. And Mavrik Geyer over Sukkar or Murray? He's been ordinary in Cup and Murray and Sukkar solid.....

Ha, massive pile on for mason. Some merit to it all, but if his reggies form is good, I don’t see an issue. Prefer Luke on the wing as he has his own issues with bombs.

My concern is hope. Besides the teams handling errors, he was the next biggest reason for us getting dominated. Just undone all the effort and impact from our forward pack. Appreciate we don’t have many options for hooker, but he was so bad I’d prefer latu (or even mason!!) to start in the 9.

Say what you want but Benji has not been afraid of following thru on his “not acceptable” rant in the presser last week. He is doubling down on the Standards that are required with the changes he’s made.
My main concerns are Mason at 1 and Hope at 9 but unfortunately we don’t have too many plausible options.
He seems particularly unhappy with Skelton for some reason. I would have stuck with Turuva at 1 and brought Skelton in on the wing. Mason just doesn’t look like NRL material and could be found out big time.

Patrick Herbert played 16 games at fullback in NSW cup in his past.

Mason's been playing centre.

Maybe the old switcheroo is on the cards?

Noone is questioning Benji's tough stance on Tavana and Toa and, to be honest any sensible coach would have done the same thing. With his 3 dumb, costly errors, Sione could have joined those two as part of the firm statement. He probably deserved to be dropped more than Sukkar but he had previous form in the bank. Choosing Mason is nonsense though. Laulilii has played a lot of fullback in the lower grades and is playing well. He should have been 1 with Skelton in.

One game last season Mason filled in at centre and we lost, they ran through him multiple times and scored, so no.

Herbert fitness is an issue, he struggles to play 80mins at center. Would be lucky to see half a game at fullback.

Much much better! Players in their right positions. Bunty finally yay!

Many people were asking to see Madden paired with Luai in the halves and to shift Doueihi a few weeks back, I guess we’ll see how they go now. Wiping last week’s effort together off the board as they were both caught unaware and unsettled with injuries, lack of possession etc.

I wish there was a more exciting option at hooker other than Hope, but I guess there isn’t. Hopefully he’ll be better for the run.

But good on Benji for following through. I’d be trading Toa to Parra before Skelton.

Toa is shit. I find him entitled the way that he plays. I feel very 2023ish when I watch him. Mmmmmmm……

I feel like Benji made all the right moves except the selection of Mason at fullback. Not sure I've seen someone as bad under the high ball in first grade as him. If we thought last week was bad, it could be even worse this time. Happy to be proven wrong but boy I am nervous.
