Kokkinakis injured again. Good player but his body is cooked.

Kokkinakis retires

Thanasi decided not to serve at 1-0 down to start the 3rd set, after seeking treatment on his surgically repaired pectoral muscle only minutes earlier.
He had just won the 2nd set which went over an hour and then motioned at his pectoral muscle towards his support team.

“I’m just struggling with the same injury. I could feel it getting worse,” Kokkinakis said.
“I came into the match with a lot of doubts because I wanted to go out there and give it a crack, but I knew it didn’t feel right. It progressively got worse [during] the match. I felt like if I kept playing, something bad was really going to happen, so I’ll do some scans tomorrow.”

A 19 minute first set bagel was the perfect start for Alex de Minaur against an opponent he had previously never lost to in hot, sticky conditions who had come off a nearly five hour battle in the previous round that left him planted on the clay.

Then Jakub Mensik, the last man to beat Jannik Sinner before his big upset loss at Roland Garros got to work and powered past the Demon much to his frustration to end his campaign.
