Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We got a massive belting today but not unexpected considering our best middle, best edge, best 7 and best centre were missing on top of a few others. This of course has a domino effect thru the grades and we were not thrashed in reserves and Flegg were within a converted try. This was all against the best team in the comp. My point is okay it was disappointing but our depth is not as bad as everyone is saying considering our injury toll. No team could cover a injury list like ours at present, although most could compete a tad better
You’re kidding aren’t you supercoach! Lots of teams this year have had injuries to key players, but have still been able to compete well enough to keep at least a respectable scoreline. Sure we all expected a loss today, but I did not expect that massive a belting and it’s our 4th one already this season with more to come. We have nothing, no depth, no heart.

I am not sure what it was today but our heads were not in the game. Simple errors from Pole, Murray, Turuva gifted field position in our territory and very poor defence from Luai, Seyfarth and Makasini meant this would not even rate as training run for the Panthers.

This Wests Tigers thing about having resilience and not dealing with adversity seems to be ingrained. We’ve changed personnel, CEOs, coaches even board members but while we show flashes of change, we still revert to being the Wests Tigers of old. Not sure what Benji does from here? I think in Sheens’ day it was a team trip to Kiama to get their heads screwed on - whatever it takes we need to do something quickly.

We can always stick with the players who played today which are very similar to the ones that also got flogged by Manly, Sharks and Melbourne.
I suppose why change anything if it’s working so well 🤷🏼‍♂️

So pick Suli and Luciano ..: or stick to the players they have ?

There isn’t a third option - like pick better players to join the club 😂

Injuries are part of the game and the depth needs to be better …this requires a bit of foresight in the off-season when putting the squad together that your first line depth spine players are better than Mason and Hope ..

They have sucked four out of five games now , and the other three times were against middle teams who had their biggest margins of the season against us … we know how to make an ordinary team look good

The issue to me is the margin …, they have been flogged four out of five times as you say …some people seem to be saying it was a flogging today but they played the best team 🤷

Yeah I get it …they had injuries … but 68-0?

For all the praise Gallant gets for identification and recruitment he and everyone else involved have completly stuffed our depth. We have a great first team that can compete with anyone. As soon as we need to cover for 2 or more injuries the quality of players we use just falls off a cliff. We need to recruit better quality for pos 25 - 30 in our squad and stop giving the bottom 3 or 4 spots to players who just cant compete. A broom needs to be put through 25 - 30 on the roster and we need to find a creative way to fill the last 5 spots with journeymen or utility players with a bit of experience who can do a job or year after year it'll be the same problem.

I think we started the season with the likes of Hope and Mason as first drop depth in important spine positions … that’s probably higher depth than 25-30…

They need a roster churn of about 10 players who aren’t up to scratch …they are also looking to move on Hunt who is definitely in our Top 17 players… add another starting calibre middle to the list then

I don’t think so. I was there and we didn’t show up.

I love the excuses that get trotted out, Doesn't matter who's missing
- Catching a ball (Something you've done since you were 5/6)
Doesn't not happen because the bloke you usually play with isn't there.

Someone mentioned the difference in the look of the teams in Warm Up.
I didn't go to the game, But I've been to more than enough...
You can tell very early on when we're not 'There' It's not a new thing.

Getting better depth is easier said than done. The competition is expanding and every club needs players. 'Good" depth players are not aiming to play at West's Tigers on minimum contracts. There is not enough good available FG players let alone players prepared to stay at clubs as "depth" at a club like ours hence why juniors are being blooded perhaps too early.

Mick Ennis and Luke Keary mentioned yesterday there was a massive difference in the warm up's from each team. One had purpose the other was not switched on.

Yeah ..I get it mate … but they simply have to find a way to get it done ..otherwise it’s ground hog day and we are sitting here in 12 months in the same position if they run back most of the 30 players

The Warriors went from 14th to 3rd in one season in 2023 …it can be done

Under the salary cap it’s really hard to build up great depth. Teams like us have to pay overs to assemble a competitive top 17 leaving very little to attract the depth required to cover injuries and suspensions.

What gives me hope is we seem to have some real talent coming through the Flegg system that may supply some much needed depth in the next few years.

I look.for things like this...but its really hard to gauge.

I noticed last week we seemed.to be laughing and mucking around a bit in the warm up while the dogs seems intent focussed and serious...it had me a bit concerned....but as we know we.won that

Penrith seem to be ultra professional ...melbourne.

I remember 05 how we'd run out for games laughing smiling and happy...it seemed to me to be not the time and place for that

Some.of the pod guys go to training often ie nearly all the time...ive asked a few times is what they dish up on sundays sililar to taining?
Its baffling to me.how we can go from the defealnsive resolve we showerld against the dogs to the pathetic.embarrasing display yesterday

Id also question if our assistant coaches are the BEST men fir the job because its one helluva coincidence theyre all old benji teammates if they are

Does a team say for example Manly, have great depth ? A number of them are players that used to play here …poorly

While ever we are run by HBG we will remain cellar dwellers, They don't try to get the best staff for the job they get whoever does it on the cheap. The owners don't give a toss about results, we run on minimum $$$

We supposedly don’t have much cal space to sign anyone else of great quality.
I suppose that’s the problem when you pay marquee money for someone who doesn’t produce marquee quality on field performances on a regular basis and we overpay other players to keep them at the club.
