We don’t seem to get the opportunity to bring our juniors along slowly

We always panic with our development and it dosen't help that many people on here claim "If your old enough you are good enough",that may be the case with a FEW but with the vast majority of young blokes there is no substitute for time and maturity.

This thread is insane! I don’t know if I’m reading about junior pathways, gay footballers, bigots, something someone said about how we’re not going to pay overs for players anymore, but no one can remember who. My life is confusing enough already, i think I’ll come back and check to see if we’ve signed someone at a later date 🏃‍♂️

If you are asking me those questions …no ..I don’t believe they have better pathways or more money than us ..

I dug into this last year and you will be surprised, although the data was 2024 it really tells the story. You can find the post here.

To save you digging and answer the question ... The sources are from all over the shop so it may not be comparing apples with apples, but if you look at what they generate and what's contibuted it is significantly more that our staff are playing with so we are definitely doing it on the skinny.

Canberra Raiders	~A$25.9 M (franchise); league club ~A$92 M	Canberra District RL Football Club	$5 M+ via league‑club profits Canberra Raiders is a not for profit so this is the spend on top of the NRL grant.
Cronulla Sharks	~A$19.5–22 M	Cronulla‑Sutherland District RLFC	$5M on top of a $2.74M football department profit in 2024. The Sharks are not run as a Not for Profit organisation; but the Leagues Club is. There is potential for funding to increase once new Leagues Club is complete ($30M investment)
Wests Tigers	~A$67.8 M* (non‑grant income)	Holman Barnes Group (via Wests Ashfield Leagues Clubs)	1.8M (2024) Wests Tigers is a not for profit so this is the spend on top of the NRL grant.

You can only imagine how much the like of Brisbane and the Storm are throwing around. The bottom line is that HBG are doing bugger all for us, even though their primary objective is to support rugby league in the region. You have to wonder, given the objectives of the club, how they can justify funding sports like rugby union and soccer, that are in direct competition for our junior base. I get that it is a community based club - but it is a community based rugby league club. It appears that most of the pokies $ go back into the club patrons as opposed to supporting the growth and development of Wests Tigers and our pathways.

100%. I believe the dogs receive $5M annually which is no doubt poured into their pathways.

Cronulla makes the 8 every year, and I wouldn’t say they are flush with money, pathways or juniors …

They concentrate on good experienced coaching and having a solid squad though …

Yes, defence & effort areas are way inferior over there. Starford To'a could be a Man Of Steel contender & Royce Hunt could easily churn out 20-min+ stints.

But has he been training?

Two possibilities:
1. He has been training in Jail for 7 years and is looking for a paycheck. He will then try at Boxing and want a NRL stint. We could use a beefcake forward.

2. he has done not much for 7 years or isn't up to our fitness standard. We send him to Reggie's on a trial n train or value outside of the cap. Benchwarmer because we need Samuela in our squad/keep Fainu's happy.
