Backrow debacle

Interested to hear people thoughts on how we manage the next couple of months with no Sam and KPP.

Honestly I have no idea what Benji should do, however I have a left field ideas that most will shoot down but worth the chat anyway.

Sione will stay left backrow for the time being. So that leaves right side. Sukkar will be an NRL player in the future but im not confident we will win the appropriate amount of games to stay in touch with him starting regularly right now. So it got me thinking, is there anyone in the squad who you could pull for your you know what to do a job.... I have always believed physically strong centres make the best backrowers....

so the idea is.....
Herbert plays backrow with Sukkar off the bench. Now I know that is really left field, but i can picture Herbert really taking that challenge on
Could He provide that mobility and aggression we need there for a short period? Small but powerful runner and defender. Dene Halatau like.

Tell me why its a bad idea

I honestly think Benji will be on the bat phone to Mr Sheenuis asking questions about wingers playing Prop and backrow

Don't be surprised if you see Skelton at the base of the scrum

Also don't be surprised if Benji names Shawn Blore in the backrow before June 30

I was thinking the same thing myself watching the gane yesterday as Patrick Herbert always rips in and plays very physical, but simply doesn’t have the speed required to be a competent NRL outside back.

Who was our best edge forward in Reggie’s yesterday?
We have a diamond in the rough imo who no one has mentioned.

Mitch Taotua

One of our best in Cup yesterday and performed well each time called up to Cup from JF. Arguably the closest we have to the modern prototype backrower - tallish, powerful, tackle buster, reasonably quick, good offload & strong defensive efforts. Whether he has the tank for the effort-on-effort required for NRL, but he’s a sleeper imo much like Junior Lanyon was.

I think we keep Seyfarth & Sione in the middle. They’re the most experienced options to replace KPP & Samuela but they’re a bit of a liability out wide, as opposed to to being pretty impactful at lock/prop.

I thought Sukkar showed yesterday that he can hold down one 2nd row spot and I’d go Roberts for the other spot, if he’s fit. Otherwise we don’t have many options. Maybe we have to give Geyer another chance off the bench to give Sukkar/Roberts a breather, he might be better in a short stint.

Hopefully Benji is working on a signing before 30 June, Blore would be great if possible. Not sure if there are any other options in the lower grades?

How’s this for Saturday?:

8. Ter May
9. Api
10. Bunty
11. Sukkar
12. Roberts
13. Si Fainu

14. Pole
15. Seyfarth
16. Laynon
17. Murray
18. L Fainu
19. Skelton

I think Roberts is injured.
