Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I dont care what anyone says, the moment the captain of the team decided he jumping ship the vibe changed.
I’m okay with Jarome leaving, but it was the timing. It should have been done either at the beginning or the end of the season.

However, Michael Chammas was given the role to manipulate the story that PVL wanted him to create.

It’s not a coincidence that Abdo jumped ship.

Chammas is a good journalist and probably a nice guy, but he has no right or reason to be a general manager of a fresh franchise, especially one that is so contentious.

I don’t much for this narrative either … it’s not like he packed up and left the next week ……I think it’s just a coincidence…we have seen this team collapse time and again mid season

No doubt the whole team knew he was headed over there when they played the Raiders and they had one of their best performances of the season …

We went to Jubilee yesterday with hopes of a win (except the missus, she supports the Dragons). It was disappointing to lose Api towards the end of the game, and likely for the rest of the season. However, the whole team looked really flat from kickoff.

What's even more disappointing is that we were beaten in virtually every statistic by a very average team.

Can someone tell me what players in that team we fielded last night do we expect is capable of making tackle breaks other than Douehi and Skelton ?
I know I sound like a broken record, BUT you cannot be competitive across an entire season, particularly at this time of the year when the chips start cracking if you do not have the right balance of workers and players with the attacking flair to make tackle breaks and line breaks.
I am extremely unhappy with Benji with the way he is selecting our playing roster and for the way he is badly mishandling our developing players, but with the current squad we have, we could have Wayne Bennett or Craig Bellamy coaching us and we would still be struggling due to lack of creativity and lack of ability to score points.
The flow on effect is our defence ends up getting deflated after seeing how poor our attack is throughput games.

The Luai deal is a good outcome for the club.
Players are commodities in professional.sport they don't operate with the same mindset as fans.
From the get go this season it was plain as day that we had a competitive top 18 players and then after that like every other year not much else.
The injuries/suspension have been significant and the "next man up" line is a throwaway response when the next man up is not FG quality
Remind me of the last player this club has produced, retained, transitioned, as FG quality player let alone a rep player. We hear about them and then - nothing - and or the development happens elsewhere.
Given what we apparently stand for it's hard to believe that those in charge know what they are doing.

The question is why were we so flat?

The whole playing for each other and the coach has shifted significantly from earlier in the season. The effort isn't there at all. Injuries definitely had a huge effect. Luai jumping ship had a bigger effect. Then you can throw in possibilities like Twal and Doueihi being our best players but on half the money of other players. That sort of stuff creates issues.

This is not a happy group anymore and there's some underlying issues that are causing problems.

Daily Telegraph: Meanwhile, Moses Leota’s permission to test the open market for 2028 hit like a thunderbolt this week, and there’s no shortage of clubs who have been quick to register interest in the Panthers enforcer.

Among them have been the Roosters and Tigers, but whether it materialises into concrete offers remains to be seen.

Who is writing this mate ?

This is for 2028 right ? I doubt we could squeeze him in next season ,,

Sirro, I feel like the team is unsettled. I'm not sure what's going on behind closed doors, and yes, I understand we lack depth when injuries occur, but the the bigger problem appears to be a lack of effort and possibly the psychology of winning consistently.
It all coincided with Luai leaving, the effort really dipped after that

I agree ..I think they would feel that he hasn’t lived up to the money…. And that’s not likely to change over the past 3 years
Where are the signs that Bula has or ever will live up his 900kk or higher price tag and where are the signs that Turuva has or ever will live up to his 450k or higher price tag ?
Two recently upgraded contracts that are hurting our salary cap balance due tto the players not having the ability to be even close to value of what we are paying them.
We limit our ability to try and recruit any genuine star players when we keep overpaying bog average players.
If we were paying Bula his true value of our 500k and paying Turuva his true value of around 300k, not only would we have the capacity to recruit and sign much better quality players around them, but if they were under performing it would be no big deal to move Bula to the wing or reserve grade and it would be no big deal to drop Turuva to reserve grade like he was at the Panthers before coming to us.

Correct ,.they are both more likely to live up to those deals …than Luai his ..

Of course they are both paid actually less now …and you are focused on how much they are going to be paid in the future ,,,

Turuva is a winger only ..pick him there only ,.

There whole attacking game plan centers around putting up a bomb for your man Bula ,,,come up with something different ,
