Try watching it on 9now rather than channel 90 or what ever the 9 HD channel is where you are.

The picture quality is so much better, or at least that is what I have found, however they stuffed up by still having the same commentary team. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Heard a bit of talk from V'landys and the local boss of Dazn saying that there was an agreement to keep it affordable.

I'll believe that when they drop the already exorbitant cost of that glitchy piece of garbage they call *Kayo which I can't see happening.

*Kayo should be rebranded as Chaos.

I think I read 15% increase over 7 years. So if its 2% a year that is ok.

This year I purchased a Kayo digital membership for 12 months and that worked out a tad cheaper than paying by the month for 12 months.

But more than quality, it's about the number of people reached. Netflix and Prime reaches out to so many more people because of low cost subscriptions.

I was hoping Kayo doesn't get exclusive rights but it has so we can't do anything about it. But, I sponge off a friend's Kayo but no matter how much I like footy, paying $30/mo on top of Netflix $25/mo and Prime, and Disney is too big of a cost.

I just don't see what Kayo brings to the table that other streaming platforms don't.

In terms of sponsorships and eyeballs, because it's the same two platforms, I don't know how many extra corporate partners and sponsorships you get, but imagine having Netflix showing 3 games a week and how many more corporate opportunities you get especially if you continue playing in Vegas.

It's a big deal for sure $5.3b and ARL has worked very hard to get it but I was hoping for more variety. Content consumption is changing but we have had Nine/Fox/Kayo for decades now.

We could have had different panel members, commentators, different angles. Let's hope Nine and Fox invest more into sports technology

Of course I haven't thought it through completely and neither have you hence we are discussing it.

Just because they're in bed together doesn't mean they can't trade between each other.

Netflix has 6m subscriptions so let's assume every household as 2 people, that's 12m . Prime has 5m, so close to 10m.

Kayo has 1m subscriptions. And tbh, many of these subscriptions are for NRL.

If you want new eyeballs, you need to make the game available on new platforms. I feel like the NRL had an opportunity to do that which they've missed or even if after 3 years, they could have taken away Fox's exclusivity it would have helped.

I think we have locked ourselves for 7 years at subpar platforms. We have taken so many risks with LA, magic round, apparently having a global round but by keeping it ONLY on Kayo and 9now, we have reduced the games reach.

I'm 32 and literally none of my friends watch FTA except for Origin. There are thousands of migrants coming in every year and by having it on Kayo exclusively, you've priced them out.

Anyway, let's hope a lot of this money goes into getting kids into sports and providing better facilities for those who are from a low socioeconomic background so we can make the game even more accessible.

Foxtel will not put it on Netflix for free. If you added a sports package to Netflix, it would increase the cost to what Kayo charges. Same with Amazon. And you are talking about a household now having to pay for 2 accounts when fox only needs one.

Foxtel has foxtel now and go which are both streaming so not sure why you worry about FTA. GO is free with the IQ box.

Anyway, I'm sure this debate sounds great in the pub, but in the end the cost would be similar whatever platform you choose. The main thing is not splitting it up amongst multiple broadcasters. That would be an absolute disaster and thank God they didn't go down that path.

I'm not sure many under the age of 35 has an IQ box. Almost 90% of families have smart tv making Foxtel IQ box a little redundant.

The reason NFL makes it available on multiple platforms is to cater for al different types of people. Right now we have closed off games to those who can only afford Kayo. 1 in 3 families have either Netflix or prime already. There are different types of plans avaible and I doubt having one game a week woulnt cost them the bank. Even if they were for keep live games, at least make replays available to other platforms. Hell even make it available on YouTube.

Right now the only people who can legally watch a game is those who can watch it live on 9 or those who can afford Kayo which is about 1 in 10 families. Even the most dedicated footy watcher doesn't watch every game live. I watch maybe one game live a week, the rest I watch at 10 or 11pm when I come home.

Or make SOO available on Prime just like NFL has Thursday night football on there.

Just something different to increase the reach.

Yeah but mate you're going down this "I don't know if many under x age have this outdated technology" path.

I'm telling you Foxtel already has their full compliment on a paid streaming subscription that doesn't require a box called Foxtel Now.

Channel 9 has a streaming app where you can stream origin...for no cost. You want to put it on Prime for a subscription. Why?

It makes no sense to put things on multiple apps and make people.pay for something that is already free. Everyone is catered for right now. Old, young and the technologically advanced or tye ones that struggle.

You will decrease the reach because you have taken something totally free and added a cost to it and removed it from a place where people have been tuning in for years.

Forget Kayo. You seem totally hung up on this. If Netflix or Prime had the rights, you would have to pay extra for that...what are you achieving?
