No finals 3 year into coaching us, if that extends to 4, I don’t think he will have a job in 2028

I'm starting to have a bit of a problem with Benji Marshall as our coach. I think he likes to be a friend with the "boys" rather than a coach. I've always thought that he needed an experienced coach around him, once again he seems to prefer to have his old mates from the 2005 GF.... helping out.

I would say give him another season, and if that doesn't work he has to go, we know he loves the club, but that doesn't matter if his tenure is not working.
I think most of us are sick of the excuses !

we’re a huge chance to beat the dogs.
Our last 2 games were winnable. Our centres let us down both times. One is leaving for a new club and the other is still a teenager. (That was no time for the tap on pass).
Good onya Benji for recognising we desperately need an experienced try scoring centre with strong defensive ability. Sure some resilience is lacking but that can be changed.

AD not finding touch from that penalty and then conceding the quick try.. Bunty having a brain explosion , getting binned and by the time he is back on its down 14-0 and a big mountain to climb for these blokes …

They need to examine the pre game routine and find out why they start the majority of games so passively ..

And week in and out Benji says it’s on him and he needs to look at how he is preparing the team each game. Yet we are just going backwards every week. I think Benji needs a coach.

Benji needs to make changes in his coaching structure, and all 3 grades need to reflect how we want to play football.

There was a lot of talk at the start of the season about the standards we accept and how we want to play. That seems to have gone out the door along with our attitude. Maybe they need to go back to their pre season notes.

Wouldn't it be good if we could have one year (season) without problems within the ranks. (ie last season Galvin, this time Luai)- it just seems to be a disruption that we can't seem get our heads around.

Can the NRL stop this mid season transfer rubbish , it's just something that's a total disruption to our season or for that matter any clubs' season It's bad enough having injuries which also has the same effect.

No, but when you are coming last in the comp on both sides of the field for tries conceded since rd 9 or whatever it was then something has to change.
Im not sure where the red zone attack rates, but i don't think it would be too much higher? Maybe the assistants are great and Benji doesn't want to listen, or maybe they are hopeless at their jobs and he listens too much. Either way, something has to change because it's not working.

Yes ..I agree they have had disruption … but these are high paid full time professionals and mostly they are adult men, not kids …. People come and go ( Luai is still there for now) in any profession and the rest are expected to get on with it … I understand that footballers have a closer bond than most workplaces but most of them have come from somewhere else themselves right ?

I agree, Benji has had some rough cards dealt to him
Injuries to our top players, which we don’t have a lot of. We’ve got too many non top liners in our run in team
Luai circus around a leader, who potentially helped us attract many of our team, has no doubt created problems
I doubt another coach does significantly better in the same situation

Needs to get new assistants. Guys that will actually challenge his thoughts and tactics (or lack thereof). Does he need more money from HBG to actually get some quality around him? Or is it just his trust issues that make him keep giving jobs to his friends.
Where have the offloads gone? Where is the linespeed we had earlier in the year? Why is everything we do half a second slower than our opposition? Why do some of spine struggle to put passes in front of their runners instead of behind them? How could we possibly fail to find touch so early in the contest?
Attention to detail, it's sorely missing in this side and nothing will change until changes are made with and by the coaching staff.

It does sound like they all love Benji and he would be lapping that up, but they are getting paid a lot of money by the club to hopefully win games- Benji is not paying them, (I think it may have been the May's that made that staement) they all should be playing the game as well as they can to win for the club and members and fans - not make stupid statements like that
However it looks like our season is definitely over already for 2026. WE were all so hopeful that this season would be a good one.

Last night it seemed very obvious that the issues have nothing to do with Benji or the coaching staff.

We just have a very slow team that's struggling in an era where speed is everything.

The Warriors are full of fast, athletic guys with great footwork.

Whereas we couldn't even break the line.

It's a sad state when a bloke like nearly 30 year old Bunty who couldn't get a run elsewhere was one of your best.

Did Benji not recruit our team ?

That would require an actual game plan as well as offensive and defensive structures..... Not sure Benji and his mates know what they are ......

This season seems particularly disappointing because they started really well, winning games with a toughness that we hadn’t seen for a long time …

Something is wrong with the team for sure ,,.. probably it’s a combination of things actually …the injuries have been a big factor and the depth is not adequate ..but I don’t think that is the be all and end to explain the drop off we are witnessing now, and I hope they do some analysis of this …

The coaching needs to be better , and I think if people are honest with themselves , the jury is still out on Benji…. Plenty on the players too …all us fans can do really is hope for the best that things change in 2027

It's a mentally and physically demanding competition - I don't think the timing of the bye rounds have done us any favours especially with the run of injuries and our obvious lack of inadequate replacements in say that we were always going to get found out at some point.

Honestly, our death warrant was signed the moment HBG sacked Richo. That board is an insidious cancer that will eventually kill our club....

Dose anybody seriously think Shaun M has the balls to reign in Benji and force him to hire actual assistants......

As much of a nice guy Shaun M is he is I'll equipped to handle the vipers nest he has thrown himself into.....

Is Benji doing any studying or has he done anything to improve his ability as a coach? Does he still believe in 9 to 5 coaching?
