Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Apparently direct swap with Javon Andrews. Same salary too lol.

Seriously though, I wax on about Latu because I see so many similar traits as Isaiya and I just know how important those traits are to a teams attack. If we could get Katoa I'd be over the moon. He is an unbelievable half. That would allow Latu to play his natural position of 6 and those two would open up ridiculous space for Bula, Averillo and May.

We could go Latu and AD next year and the best performed one partners Katoa in 28.
Is this swap with Javon a rumour or a theory?

you would rather stick with latu ?

katoa contracted until end of 2028
as some posters have said apparently he is keen to come back to sydney

pay katoa the 1.2 million
We will not even be a consideration if we offer Katoa 1.2 million, he will receive 1.5 million offers and will get a minimum of 1.2 from much higher profile clubs than us.
As good as Katoa is, he is not bullet proof, I have watched a few games earlier this season where the Dolphins were not winning the yardage battle and Katoa was virtually non existent.
Considering we desperately need to add some real quality in regards to players who run the ball aggressively and/or defend with good line speed and aggression as well as add some more players with genuine speed and/or be good on the air, we realistically cannot and will not need to spend 1.2 to 1.5 million on a halfback or 5/8.
I have no doubt whatsoever if we put the right players around them, the halves we currently have in Doueihi, Latu Fainu, Javon Andrews and Jock Madden will get the job done.
Case point the Warriors, who seriously believes a halves combination of Te Maire Martin and Chanel Harris-Tabitha is high class? They are both good, willing, handy players, but there is nothing exceptional about them and as bad as our halves were last night, if you swapped the halves around it would not have changed the result.
We have had some bad edge defensive efforts this season which includes our edge second rowers regularly being out of position leaving us short on numbers, but last night was as bad as any of them. A good NSW Cup team, probably even our own NSW Cup team would have been making numerous line breaks we were that bad.

i think the press conference goes ahead on monday

benji mentioned it last night
this has all been released by jarome and his team
its all

it was quite amicable i believe where it has soured is that parra didnt want to carry the one million $ tag and were hoping tigers would bend , discussions happening for well over a week

club only will contribute 200k, if a deal cant be done, jarome could find himself on the bench /cup (this was the club stance)

jarome is trying to push the agenda and force us to pay more

Press conference ? I doubt it mate …they will just announce the signing if it happens via media release

Nah- The gap between NSW Cup ( reserve grade) and the NRL has never been bigger … watch Madden dominate this week …like Latu did last week ..
You are very mistaken with that comment TS.
Our problem is we call up players who have not even stood out at NSW Cup level.
Neither Latu Fainu or Jack Madden are the reason we cannot beat time with a stick, you need to look elsewhere.

Latu played great last week …surely you aren’t disputing that ?

coach Adel said the same thing about the difference between reserves and the NRL ..considering he is a reserve grade coach …Im going to go with his opinion over yours this time

With the attitude most of the team played with tonight, they were not winning even at Leichhardt with a 10-1 penalty count in our favour.
You are creating hypothetical scenarios (with nothing to back it up) to suit your position.

When was the last time they didn't turn up for a leichardt game?

This is the problem. They seem to turn up for leichardt games but they don't turn up for Campbelltown games.. is it the stadium? Is it the crowd? Is it the lack of atmosphere?

You can make up as many hypotheticals as as you want, but no one can argue with a 4/22 record..

I’d be looking within to address the position, strengthening other positions in the team to make the job for Latu/Andrews easier

Latu and Andrews are brilliant, and some forget the form AD was in before injury.
The only way to know is to play them and at least give them 6 games when they start don't just drop them after 1 bad game

Katoa would be amazing but that fantasy aside, if Javon and Latu are our future halves, where does Doueihi play? Centre? Lock? Bench utility? He's signed till 2029 and was arguably our best player before injury...

In other random signing whispers/rumours, apparently Cleary, Toa, Yeo, et al. could all be going to PNG in 2028 as a package deal. Can't negotiate till November, but PNG are pushing hard. PNG Panthers?

You do that.
The players that regularly stand out at NSW Cup level are ready and will eventually stand out at NRL level given the opportunity.
Latu always stands out when playing NSW Cup, that is why he is a quality NRL halve in waiting.
Josese Lanyon had a very good season last year in Jersey Flegg, but his NSW Cuo form has been nowhere near good enough for an NRL call up and he is one of quite a few who have been called in to our NRL team, despite average NSW Cup form leading up to it.
Adel has done good pints of view, but as a few others here have pointed out, some of his views are off with the fairies such as always claiming Bula plays great even when he does nothing.

Haven’t heard any specifics … but not the first ive heard of that speculation ..add Liam Martin too,,,Could have a handy team ..wouldn’t that be a major mind f if they win first year ..😂
