Not suggesting it is. Tim Sheens had to rebuild a roster over 2 seasons. 26 players coming & going. In an era of 2-3 year contracts- that is the timeframe to rebuild, minimum. That's making no mistakes.

The problem is trying to fit players that don't fit, over long term contracts. When you get stuck with Mbye's & Packer's for beyond 2 seasons, you have a problem.

We already have had multiple clean outs, just in the time since Sheens came back and left. First we brought in Klemmer, Bateman and Ipap who replaced the likes of Zane Musgrove and James Tamou who had replaced Packer and Matulino. Then Klemmer and Bateman became deadwood and we replaced them with May and Hunt who are now bordering on being deadwood themselves. We aren’t good at this kind of thing,

Benji has moved through 30 players in his time here.

I'm suggesting he has done his cleanout.

What comes next should be the results of that.

However- he's coming from probably the weakest point the club has experienced, so there is still a little deadwood to shift.

The introduction of the players coming through the ranks should be the making or breaking of his choices.

Agreed, which is why I don't want another youngster like Javon to play more than a cameo late in the season, if that.

Latu wise, he should have long been played at halfback already, and certainly recently since Luai was known to be leaving. Doueihi was never going to be it, and if Latu cannot claim the spot, we need to know now and hit the market.

Feels like Bula 2.0 whom we spent a truckload of cap to end up with a guy who was never worth it in the first place,and coasts once signed..effort level and committment has got worse
The level of effort of both of them(Samuela) last w/e was embarrassing. Can understand May in same situation,but think Benji has cooked him with poor rotations
Samuela cld be an elite player somewhere some day...dont like his stated loyalty to Benji rather than the club is for me a huge issue.
Lotsa of warning signals for yet another long term problem signing on Samuela for huge $$

I didn’t even watch the last game ..thought he went ok the week before …only played half the game ..
If he loves Benji …why isn’t he putting in for him ?

You've just argued that the majority of our starting side are players who'd walk into nearly any team and shouldn't even be part of the discussion around not trying or not being good enough. I'd also add Turuva to that list, and if we're counting Luai on quality and experience (not current form), that's nine of the 13 starting spots.

So if your assessment is accurate, why would "anyone you throw into this squad look rough"? It doesn't follow.

If we added three quality first-graders in 2027, we'd have almost the entire starting side made up of players you rate highly. That can't be the sort of team where a quality recruit would automatically look ordinary.

I think we simply tend to overrate a lot of our players. Once they put on a Tigers jersey, they somehow become better in our minds than they really are.

The reality is they're mostly just good first-graders. That's not turning on them, it's just an honest assessment of where they currently sit. Outside of Api, and Luai (on reputation rather than current form), none are anywhere near elite in their positions. They put in the effort and can be excellent on their day, but they're not consistent enough to be viewed in the way you've described.

(Doueihi is an odd exception. It's difficult to judge him too harshly when he's being asked to play a position that clearly isn't his.)

History tells you, you need to have 3-6 origin type players to compete in the NRL. Start of the year we probably had 4 in contention but injuries put pay to that, and those guys are now down on form.

Surely you are impressed with how Javon Andrews is developing, continue to be impressed with Solo Saukuru and I thought Ethan Roberts showed some more good signs off the bench for us against the Bulldogs.
I also thought Tony Sukkar had a great game for us in NSW Cup yesterday. He will be a very good player this time next year and we would be silly to go through the learning phase and than let players like Saukuru and Sukkar go just when they are starting to fulfill their potential.

It’s definitely consistent with the thought process of the derelicts running this joint. Would not be suprised. We consistently Nurture players through to right before they reach their potential and then hand thwm over to another club to reap the rewards
