It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Under the NRL banner, individual clubs act as separate legal entities operating an NRL licence granted by the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC).

Governance Model Examples

Penrith. Wholly member-owned. The club is structured as a non-profit company limited by guarantee.
NRL Board vs. Ownership Structure: The Panthers Group (the leagues club entity) completely controls the football operations. The leagues club network, with 148,000 plus members, directly finances and manages the Penrith Rugby League Club Ltd. Eligible leagues club voting members elect the board to oversee commercial hospitality and football operations.

Cronulla. Wholly member-owned.
NRL Board vs. Ownership Structure: Similar to Penrith, the Sharks operate hand-in-hand with its leagues club entity. Club members democratically elect the Board of Directors (complemented by targeted independents or appointed experts like Paul Gallen). The football club holds the NRL license directly, ensuring profits from property assets and hospitality flow back into their rugby league pathways.

St George. 50/50 Joint Venture / Corporate Partnership.
NRL Board vs. Ownership Structure: This structure split the license right down the middle. WIN Corporation (a private media company owned by Bruce Gordon) owns 50% while the St George Leagues Club (member-based) owns the other 50%. The 8-person NRL Board splits nominations between the corporate partner (WIN), St George stakeholders, and an Illawarra Steelers representative.

Parramatta. Wholly owned by the member-based Parramatta Leagues Club.
NRL Board vs. Ownership Structure: After a series of governance failures and constitutional overhauls, the Eels have separated political leagues club voting from the football operations. The The Parramatta NRL board is structured to protect football operations. It consists of 7 Directors: 2 nominated directly by the Leagues Club and 5 independent external directors appointed through a strict merit-based skills matrix.

Best case scenario would be the NRL taking over like they did the knights? Because they won’t sack themselves

It’s nightmare stuff. Members invest more into this footy club than they do and we get no voice.

At what point do we consider players as coming through our pathways?

"The Souths Acacia Ridge and Logan Brothers junior has been a standout through the Queensland junior representative systems and previously spent time with Wests Tigers Pathways in 2022-23."- Andrews

"Madden joined Wests Tigers in 2019 on a Development contract — featuring heavily for the club's Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup side."- Madden

That is part of our Pathways development, isn't it?

What is considered a cut-off for our pathways?

Let me reverse it.

Cooper Clarke grew up in the Campbelltown catchment and played Harold Matthews for Wests, but he played SG ball for Melbourne Storm. Would you consider him a Storm junior?

I'd say he would fall into what I said at the beginning- we have an bigger issue holding onto juniors than we have identifying them.

It feels like we have a retention issue, to me.

Andrews, Bula & Madden- were they a part of any other NRL club development before Wests Tigers?
