There is quite a number of ex players with heavy media presence that condemn what Doueihi did, it’s foolish to think he would be highly sought after when he has just spat the dummy at a positional change in NRL

Maybe he’s got a deal in ESL

I was thinking this last night. Draw a line in the sand. Dont crumble and release him. Let him play #6 for NSW cup until the end of 2029. When we have injuries he can fill in. Or he can come to grips with the reality that the modern day #13 is different to what it was 20 years ago..

It will blow over quickly and be forgotten. Ships that pass in the night.
 
Doesn’t matter what he may have lined up. Going there with an expectation to play one position and not being prepared to budge, I’m not sure what coach would want to deal with that.

So Benji didn't discus this with AD prior?

Seems very strange that the coach would talk to his key playmaker only two days before the game?

I believe a decision like this would need much more investement with the player then two days before the game.

Dont get me wrong, im all for giving the guy a 2nd chance. We can give him a
T & T deal and see how he goes. His life experience would be invaluable for the younger guys. I wouldnt be putting him into any form of leadership role till we were certain he completly got himself sorted. Its not just footy, he has to get back up to speed with life aswell as playing footy. Give him a bit of time first to see how he goes.

Thursday they found out he was cleared. AD obviously felt that he was going to be an automatic late change to halfback and Benji mad an on the spot decision to keep Javon based on this weeks training. Hence the boil over.

I don’t think Javon would of been named this week if AD wasn't charged. I think it was a forced change that Benji wanted to see in action as the week progressed.

I think there was a mix up in Benjis / AD’s expectations once he was cleared.

Again what you're saying is Benji didn't even float the idea with his chief playmaker until two days before the game. He just saw his name not in the team?

And the all of a sudden on Thursday he gets told "By the way AD, you're playing lock this week"

And he wasn't even named at lock.

So basically, Benji dropped AD and didn't even discuss it with him?

Doueihi would be good at 1 v 1 maybe, because he only has to look good by himself, however in a team environment I don’t think he is worth the hassle

I agree with what you said, but also look at Ethan strange for Canberra and Isiah for the dolphins both really young and going great. Not saying Andrews will go great but I think him and latu are the future halves

Maybe you are right. Maybe Benji could have handled it better.
And I'm not making excuses for him, but Benji is sick at the moment. So maybe he was sick and exhausted and figured he'd chat to Douhei the next morning at training?

And either way, what happens if there is an injury an hour before kick-off and a player is asked to move? Does the player require a weeks notice to fulfil their role for the team?

I cant see a way we look at this where Douhei is justified in the way he has carried on.

@Tucker, you often have differing opinion to me - what's your take on it?

He was named in jersey number 22.
They would have been training all week with Andrews at 7.
It's reported he was going to start at lock and Twal to Prop - so he wasnt being dropped.

Any halfback thats going to get dropped needs at least offered a frank discussion with the coach.....before the team is announced.

Really, if Benji didn't so that, I'd be p*ssed as well

Then whay wasn't he named at lock.

If Benji had a frank discussion with AD about being dropped, things might have been different

I'm not saying I wouldn't be pissed, ofcourse he would be upset. But to carry on the way he has, storm out of training and let the entire team, club and fanbase down, is selfish and pathetic.

Douhei has played 127 games and missed close to 60.

He should be grateful the club supported him the way they did. That the club extended him till 2029.

He has been paid thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars, per game, for those 60 games he has missed.

Whether he is upset or not, his behaviour here is pathetic.
