Adam Doueihi #227

Exactly. And Benji didn't know until after team announcements if Adam would get off at the judiciary
I was a Doueihi fan, I couldn’t wait for him to return from injury as I thought he might ignite something for us. However since he’s been back he’s been bog, and Marshall has tried to spark some sort of kick and now this … Adam bro, sometimes you just have to eat some humble pie and take a decision on the chin.

Marshall rates him noting the meeting that has been organised. Although supporters can be disappointed, Doueihi is NRL quality player. He is a player who wears his heart on his sleeve. Marshall would know this and bringing the parties together is sensible.
Long time friends and colleagues.

Friends have disagreements.
Hopefully things can be worked out.

AD is a Tiger.
He needs to accept it.
6, 7 or not.

Well if that's the case Benji needs a close look at how he handled the situation.

A coach assumes he's getting off but Benji didn't name him at half, so you assume Andrews was preffered over AD.

But weirdly AD only found out about this on Thursday morning?????
Ok, let's assume you are right then and Adam did find about it on Thursday morning.

Are you justifying Adam leaving training and refusing to play?

I just saw Riccio's article - Benji told Adam after they had a blow up that he could play #7 if he really wanted.

And Adam is still not playing?

Again, maybe Benji needs to improve some things. But there is not justification in the world for the way AD has reacted to this - especialyl after beign given the chance again to play #7!!

The current halfback in a team who has scored 22 points in 4 weeks against teams like the Bulldogs (0 points) and Dragons (10 points). Does he own the jersey?

We are going around in circles.
He wasn't dropped.
He has been asked to move positions.
They are very different things.
I'm no NRL player, but normally in union or league, the team that trains for most of the week runs on. If a player becomes available unexpectedly, they get massaged in somewhere - this is what has happened here.

Did you check the team on Tuesday? Doueihi was named in the reserves. Why are you persisting with the narrative?

Thread 'Round 21 Vs Raiders' https://weststigersforum.com/threads/round-21-vs-raiders.37345/

Because it goes to the heart of Benji's handling of the situation

Yes reserves, so he could have been slotted into halfback or lock.

I'm just wondering if he was told that it would be lock when the team was announced, when was he told? Thursday?

'AD you will be playing lock, if you get off'

Was he told this Monday even, if not Tuesday or as it seems he only found out on Thirsday.....which seems poor

Wests Tigers call Adam Doueihi, Benji Marshall crisis meeting after dramatic training exit

The Wests Tigers have called a crisis meeting between Adam Doueihi and coach Benji Marshall within the next 72-hours to thrash out their differences, after the star dramatically ruled himself out of their Raiders clash.

David Riccio

Adam Doueihi will meet with Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall and CEO Shaun Mielekamp within the next 72-hours to thrash out their differences.

The meeting, expected by Monday afternoon at the latest, aims to bring all parties back onto the same page after Doueihi dramatically left training on Thursday and ruled himself out of the club’s game against the Raiders in Canberra on Saturday.

At this stage, neither the club wants to tear up Doueihi’s contract, nor has the 172-game player informed his management to seek a release from his contract, which runs through until 2029.

Both Marshall and Doueihi respect each other greatly and there is a genuine appetite to smoke the peace pipe and move forward for the benefit of the club.

The reason for Doueihi’s dramatic stance to stand down from playing is believed to be not solely due to Marshall deciding to shift the playmaker to the unfamiliar lock-forward position against the Raiders.

Marshall’s follow-up offer — made shortly after their heated discussion – for Doueihi to retain the halfback position against the Raiders suggests that the 29-year-old’s omission from Saturday’s game goes deeper than just a positional switch.

Mielekamp, recently-appointed as the CEO following Shane Richardson’s exit last season, is believed to be acutely aware of the reasons behind Doueihi’s shock reaction.

Another player also met with Marshall after Doueihi left his meeting with the head coach.

The 14th-placed Wests Tigers trained on Friday ahead of their important clash with the Raiders with Marshall selecting the Eels-bound Jarome Luai and rising star Javon Andrews in the halves to tackle the Raiders.

Matty Johns said on SEN radio on Friday that Luai needed to be selected for the clash with Canberra, but if the Wests Tigers couldn’t secure a victory, Marshall should begin selecting a team in the coming weeks that reflects their future.
My guess is we get pumped on the weekend, everyone backs down and he’s back in the halves the following week.

No of course I don't support AD's actions

But I hope he didn't find out on Thursday morning, like I have said a number of times, this deserves a deeper discusion between coach and halfback.

It's honestly a little concerning that Benji gave him the option to play 7 after he refused to play where he wanted him..

Interesting interview from Wednesday Morning. At around 11.15, Voss asks about Javon and at 11.22 Dooee Freudian slips & calls him "Lachie" (dare I say, "Lockie") and then mentions that Benji was gonna talk to AD & Javon on how to use him. For mine, AD knew this wasn't a good thing for AD. After some banter about nicknames, he says that he spoke to Michael Cheka on Tuesday night - why? He'd just got off from the judiciary hearing, so what more could Cheka add to that good result? Methinks he was weighing up his proposed new "Lockie" role and was seeking advice on that. Just sad that at one stage during the interview Voss mentions how after the Luai announcement that the club understandably must have been a bit unsettled prior to the Warriors game and then the Doggies ... but then let's park that and fresh start vs Raiders ..."yeah" says Dooee.

Its being reported on the fanatics podcast that douhei had premeditated the walk out on thursday morning.

Go to 2minutes

Same reports on Paul Kent's podcast.

Kent is speculating … I just watched it …he referred to it as his “conspiracy theory”…

Not everything someone says is gospel

Mate - you need to prepare as if he won't get off. You are persisting with the handling of the situation that assumes a team prepares as if he WILL get off.

Why would you prepare that way, only to find out he is suspended? If he's available, it's a bonus and the coach finds a way to slot him in after.

So theres some random bloke on Facebook claiming that Douhei and Seyfarth met with Chammas on Monday....

Monday was the day Chammas was with Joey Manu....Weidler there too.

Now this ryan clown reckons Sefarth & Douehi was with him as well....in hindsight how convenient
Youd have thought with the nine cameras with them all day they wouldve picked up on our boys
Blokes a wannabe nobody

The other thing that isn't mentioned much is that to accommodate Adam, Benji would have had to rip a debut away from a promising youngster that they are trying to extend.

Surely Adam could have seen the bigger picture here.

I guess if he was performing to expectations as a half, which he's not, he wouldnt have been asked to move.
Again though...more narcissistic behaviour,.more me me me
Yep, and a little delusional maybe. If he was that good as a half then he would have indisputably locked down that position already. He may believe it’s some sort of agenda rather than his performance that the club has based this on.
