It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Yes I did read the whole post.
I was reacting to your last sentence “The idea that they hinder our progression is something I doubt.” which contradicted your earlier remarks.
The way I see it is Penriths board and CEO certainly have legitimacy in sharing responsibility for the teams GF wins, their decisions have influenced positive outcomes.
That’s not my sentence

That’s not my sentence
Which part?
"They control both boards and make the decisions ie Benji for 5 years etc
They keep making dumb decisions that impact the running of the NRL team

I don’t blame them for the last few months results, that’s on coaches and players.

“They're crappy owners, they don't provide us with funding, connections or support. I understand that and that sucks! But, we cannot get rid of them.

The idea that they hinder our progression is something I doubt.”

The sentence that you attributed to me and I provided in the response. It’s not that difficult

I see people are gradually coming around to the fact that the single constant over our period of sustained failure is Wests Ashfield. They have to go. We have to find ways to put enough pressure on them to sell the club.

I just can't see them spending an extra $5-10 million a year on footy.

Nor can I see the petty, incompetent hacks that "own" our club relinquishing control of it any time soon.

It's such a strange situation, that there is absolutely nothing we can do about the outdated debenture system that is letting this group of people destroy our club. We can't stand for the board, we can't vote on who sits on it, we have no say. All we can do is sit there and watch us lurch from one inept decision to another and remain anchored to the bottom of the ladder.

We've changed coaches, CEO's and admin, burnt through rosters, changed home grounds, jerseys, logos. But the one consistent thing that remains is the Holman Barnes Group.

Nothing will change until the debenture system ends and we find a new owner for the club.

Obviously youre claiming that someone else added that sentience to your post. Thats ok lets leave it at that.
Everything you need to understand what I’m saying is here under.

sadly if you don’t understand quotation marks I can’t help you

Tig_prmz should be attributed with the sentence in question

Enjoy your day and the challenges we have of following the tigers

We have had independent people on the Board before, where did that get us?

I truly don't think Board and HBG is our biggest problem.

They're crappy owners, they don't provide us with funding, connections or support. I understand that and that sucks! But, we cannot get rid of them.

The idea that they hinder our progression is something I doubt.

If we are getting another $10m from the NRL, Shaun has every right to spend it as he sees fit without Board approval. Maybe Lee H or Pascoe or Mayer or Humpty, genuine question, have they ever come out and said HBG blocked how they wanted to spend our money? Someone who's been more involved on this topic for 20 years ago may know the answer to this.

They were also a constant in the ongoing failures of the wests magpies that led to them merging.

Professional sport has moved beyond the meat raffles, pokies & board member corporate indulgence business model that our owners have experience in.

Too often forgotten in this whole thing - these people have always been losers. They have a sustained history of destroying clubs. What makes people think anything will change now?

Yes , it’s very easy to make money in a pub or club just insert pokies , I was on a board for years and the only thing that made money was the pokies , Bar sales = staff costs , raffles most times broke even or lost a few bucks , kitchen / Rest run by contractor , min rent only from them , Pokies , made money very month and kept the joint going , covered everything and made a profit , how much input did the board put in to make pokie money , pretty much zero , we knew they made money , end of story , these people only know pokies , bistro , raffles , they have no skill set or experience in running a nrl level team , it’s the same from both of the original clubs , zero experience , although I believe Kieth Barnes was a pretty good operator for Balmain in his time

Lets not do the whole Wests things man. It's HBG. They have several clubs, including the Tigers at Sydney Markets and will own the future one at Rozelle. This is not a Wests thing and only will spark the wrong kind of debate.

If they bought out the Balmain share and put in an extra $5-10 million, would you still support the club?

HBG is Wests Ashfield though. It's just a rebrand to try make them more palatable to outsiders.

Yes, Wests Ashfield own a few clubs. Giving A few token board seats to others means nothing. Wests Ashfield have full control of HBG. They are one and the same and thus the names can be used interchangeably

I get what you're saying, but it looks like a deliberate way to stir up the whole Wests Magpies vs Balmain argument mate. Doesn't help.

If they gave the football club 10 million a year, kept the heritage (the orange) and 5-6 games at leichardt, it would be hard to have any issues with them (assuming they dont involve themselves in the day to day operations).

Honestly, I think thats all anyone want (with the exception of some old balmain heads)

I'd just add one thing mate. Our club needs a strong board helping with the football operations.

Our football club management has very little experience. If we are going to be thin on that level, then we need some experienced heads on the board who are willing to roll up their sleeves in their areas of profession or their network.

We can't have hands-off directors who leave it up to others, especially when it dodges accountability, and act like they're doing the right thing. It's not good enough.
