Yeah, doesn't make sense.

We have a few open spots for the 30, we need to be adding quality in hopes of improving overall.

Attard played a full game at fullback in Ron Massey Cup in Ryde Eastwood's big win. Not sure why he didn't play Flegg except maybe they want to give Brookes reps at the back in Flegg to see whether he is worth a future contract (on today's performance & recent games, it is not looking good).

Mason is a very poor defender in any position...suspect under the high ball...we need less of these types

Anyone who watches our NSW Cup team play would have noticed a big improvement in Heath Mason as this season has progressed.
I would probably be offering him a Development deal for 2027 as we ideally want to see a little more continued improvement before giving him another top 30 deal, but there are plenty of much worse players than him currently top 30 contracted across the NRL.

I don’t have the stats, but I would say Mason has spilled less high balls and made more try saving tackles than Bula this season.
One is on a minimum wage, the other will be our highest paid player in 2027.

He got run over multiple times against Warriors. He needs to improve his defence. Agree Bula has been very ordinary.

What the hell is the club doing with Jack??? Reserve grade, Flegg now Ron Massey, surely he is better than Ron Massey, I shake my head at this club in what we are doing with these kids coming through

Just a current season pecking order thing. Mason is currently backup fb. Not saying it’s right, just what I’ve noticed this season in some Cup/Massey/Flegg selections.

Small players in my thoughts need to be excellent ball players or have blinding speed, if they have none of these qualities, no spot in a successful top 4 roster available.

Yep he isn’t super fast or doesn’t have elite ball playing so he sucks

Playing well in NSW Cup means nothing to playing in NRL…the gulf in the standard of the two comps is immense …

He has had a lot of opportunities in NRL and underwhelmed pretty much every time

if you want to improve the squad you got to cut bait with some of these guys that time and again have not shown they have it

He has had way too much exposure at NRL level considering his talent ,,

He should barely be on people’s radars ..

I can understand they wanted to see how Brooks went as fullback in Flegg before any contract offers; BUT to play Ron Massey with a team of strangers is----just to get run metres into his legs? Not form.

I have extreme doubt that a few of our high profile regular NRL players would even stand out at NSW Cup level.
NSW Cup is a place where you find unknown players can emerge and players not performing up to standard at NRL level should be going back to work on and fix their problem areas.
Credit needs to be given when credit is due and Heath Mason has gone back to work on his game and has noticeably improved his reliability under the high ball, noticeable improved his ball playing, link play and regained confidence in his biggest strength which is his running game.
Absolutely no guarantee that can be transferred to NRL level, but what’s the alternative keep selecting players that do not even stand out at NSW Cup level?
