Wests Tigers to Wests Lions rebrand

The investment from the public coffers alone demands that Leichhardt be used equally with Campbelltown. It is interesting that WTs accepted the financial contributions from the various levels of govt to upgrade the ground only to turnaround and have the CEO advise 3 games only will be played. This is quite a revealing decision.

Arthur Laundy has already expressed an interest in the WTs. The tiger logo is highly marketable. Could it get worse for WTs supporters than have the club in private ownership?

You keep saying the tiger logo is highly marketable. What makes it more marketable than any other logos?

So why is it so marketable?
The Tiger is associated with strength, agility and speed. It is instantly recognisable.

In Chinese mythology, the tiger is not only a symbol of power and protection but also a representation of the west cardinal point.

In Japanese mythology,

A tiger logo design has evolved into a powerful branding tool, symbolizing strength, excellence, and untamed energy. The tiger—revered for its majesty, agility, and dominance—lends its essence to brands seeking to project confidence, luxury, and boldness. With its striking visual identity, the tiger logo captures attention and resonates across industries, from fashion and sports to automotive and lifestyle brands.

In recent years, the tiger graphic has become synonymous with premium quality and raw power. Whether used in streetwear, high-end fashion, or corporate branding, tiger-themed logos evoke a sense of daring and distinction. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of the most widely used tiger logo styles, their characteristics, and ideal applications.

Fair enough. I've never considered any of that when being concerned about which rugby league team I support. For the most part I think it is drivel (my opinion only).

Having the tiger be symbolic in Chinese and Japanese mythology may very well be a useful marketing tool given the changing Sydney population. So I do think there is at least something there.

I feel like you could whack together a few paragraphs to suggest any other single logo as highly marketable. Maybe not a rooster but certainly the rest of them.

Thanks for your reply and a good post.

Ok then... show me where the 'demand' is that LO and CSS be used equally .
I think you just made this up

Theyre totally seperate projects
It's the use of public monies and achieving best outcome for ratepayer or taxpayer dollar. The expenditure of $40m of taxpayer or ratepayer dollars for 3 games a year seems underwhelming.

That is nothing to do with CSS and LO being used equally

Youre inferring it was to be equally used between CSS and LO and then Richo came out and changed his mind.

We all know the club is a basket case, we dont need to fabricate things to make it look worse

LO will also be used by A-League, WNRL, concerts and community...it was never solely for WTs 3 games a year

The Federal $20m, State $10m and Inner West $10m levels of govt contributed to the upgrade of Leichhardt Oval and yet we have the CEO advising he plans only to play 3 games at the venue. If anyone needed proof of a disconnect between WTs, the various levels of govt and our supporters, here it is. This is extremely disappointing because supporters vote with their wallets and WTs' games at Leichhardt Oval are nearly always well attended against out of Sydney teams. Plus the atmosphere at Leichhardt Oval is superb. Why do we not play to our strengths especially when we are facing tough times? Surely you take advantage of every opportunity including making it hard for opposition teams by playing at Leichhardt.

Because in this day and age, you need corporate facilities to generate revenue and stay competitive. Maybe even to survive.

LO has basically zero corporates facilities and still won't have too many after the development compared to most other stadiums.

We're pretty far behind the rest of the league on this front along with the Dragons. It's no coincidence we're both at the bottom of the ladder. The days of running off funding from a leagues club alone are over.

I like a cold drink on the hill as much as everyone else, but times are changing.

All levels of govt are committed to the efficient use of public monies to achieve best value for the taxpayer and ratepayer. As I have previously written, the commitment of $40m of taxpayer/ratepayer dollars for 3 games is underwhelming. As a taxpayer, I expect better. As a supporter of WTs, I expect better.

I am in the process of writing to the PM's Office, the Premier's Office and the Mayor of the Inner West Council expressing my concern. I have respectfully requested that they approach PVL with a view to negotiating a better outcome for taxpayers and indeed supporters of WTs who would like to see more games played at Leichhardt Oval.

Years ago, I was informed the club received quite a healthy sum of money for playing games at what was then the football stadium and also ANZ. If as you have written we need to remain competitive by generating revenue, and we still receive a healthy sum of money for scheduling games at Parramatta, shouldn't all our games be played there?

Let's just fold the place. Balmain people will never leave the Wests side alone or respect them. You wont leave the Magpies in KOE although the agreement was for both Tigers and Magpies to have KOE teams. Balmain Tigers can go and do what? They're bankrupt. Wests Tigers can be put down and a new franchise outside Sydney can begin with whatever brand they want- and i seriously doubt it will be Tiger. Happy everyone?????? PS im just as p'ed off with the stupid debenture system as everyone else, but you lot will never be happy.
What respect do you want? Wests Ashfield has destroyed the place.

Are you suggesting fans respect the running of the club for the last 15 years?

This is not Balmain people complaining. If Balmain ran the place like WA do, I'd want to tear them down too.

Thats been well.documented over the years by many CEOs beginning with Noyce and Telstra Stdm

As ive always said (one home ground) but the club has always tried to appease those that love a ground over the team
