Latu Fainu #282

It's really hard to keep up enthusiasm for Latu. Sure, Benji has misused him, playing short minutes out of position.

But his constant hamstring injuries and his poor tackling technique look like combining through suspension and injury to missing the last 6 rounds of the season. Just when we need him to replace Doueihi.

That means in 3 seasons he'll have played just 35 games. Remembering that before the 2025 season he was sanctioned by the club for turning up out of shape after the pre season.

Latu is up for offers on the open market in November along with brother Samuela if Tigers don't extend them before then. Is he worth it? Do we have to keep him to keep Sam?
In fairness, this is the only injury Latu has endured this season following his recovery from post-season shoulder reco.

Us supporters are just burnt by history.

He’s still a very young player, five years off his best for your average halfback. Hopefully this is the off-season he gets it all together.
Exactly. Remember Benji's first few years? And he wasn't played in the forwards. Give the kid a chance to get strong and healthy, and for the love of all things good, let him play in the bloody halves!

Yeah Latu has only had this one minor hamstring injury all season following his shoulder reco if my memory serves me correct.

Not many players go a season without some sort of hammy issue. I think at this time of season it could be a case of fatigue & loading. Look at the players shot down with hammies just from goal kicking in recent weeks lol

But unfortunately for Latu, fans have long memories. And we're long suffering fans lol

The speed of the game isn’t doing anything for players who are susceptible to soft tissue injuries. A month or two ago Turbo did his hammy just taking two strides. And he’s only coming back this week. On the weekend, Metcalf did a hammy taking a shot at goal, and by all reports his season is done. And Latu’s hammys are paper mache so no surprise he’s struggling too. The powers that be have been hell bent forever making the game faster and faster and faster. And it’s finally starting to take its toll on the players.

Definitely we’ve seen 3 players pulling a hammy whilst taking a conversion for crying out loud! That’s just crazy.

Alex Conti was not wanted or rated??
I think he took the more money option?
Maybe we did under rate him with our offer? That's what makes it hard to keep all talent.
They often over rate themselves and eventually fall by the wayside. Same as the Large brothers.
These players wanted to be paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for a maybe?
But that was years ago and Conti is still plugging away to get an NRL game.

To be honest it’s probably best he moves into a starting role next season when we have a fully fit squad around him rather than steering this rabble around the park

Let Luai go out in style with Madden to cement his legacy here 😁
