Cricket Season Thread

Possibly.
Changes need to be made. I have faith in our system it’s produced the goods most of the time for a long time. But right now there seems to be a chasm so wide you can’t see the other side. Hopefully there are some young guns who take their chance this summer.

Even though i agree with your comments about our system (it is probably the consistently best in the world) it has taken damage from t20 stupidity giving young players the idea that slogging is the way to go.This is also a factor because the BIG money comes from selling your soul chasing t20 franchises around the world (mainly India). How i would love to see someone like Bill Lawry coming through the system who always valued his wicket.
Hit and giggle cricket is destroying the game.

It’s certainly changing and yes like it or not t20 is where the money is at.
It’s eroding the patience in the game, can your technique hold up long term?
It’s a shame it wasn’t around when I was young, my technique was tops for about 4 overs, indoor cricket was my sweet spot.
Actually that’s not far off, sometimes it feels like i’m watching a bunch of indoor cricketers play test match cricket and that goes for all sides.

Sad isn't it,5 day test matches used to be the norm and these days it is a rarity.

Champion @jadtiger - it's just not cricket.
I was down at local park watching my grandaughter playing soccer, and there were some teens there practising in the cricket nets. Boys and girls. I had a chat and they all said they loved test matches - quite surprised I was.

Starcy is officially the BEST bowler in the world, sitting atop the ICC rankings for the first time in his career!

Need to find a happy medium. I don't want to go back to the 2000's-2010's where every track in Australia was a highway and a batsman's paradise. There has to be something in it for the bowlers as well.

In saying this as previously mentioned in this thread, it's not just the wicket quality. There is a decline in Test-standard batting, largely due to T20 eroding the skills required to be a good Test bat. Look at Bazball, all fine and dandy when it works, but when it doesn't it chips away at the quality of the format.

I loathe T20 and what it has done to the game, especially ODI.

I think in ODIs you still had to build an innings ......T20s have caused for more problems in Test Cricket
