Charlton Athletic and Queens Park Rangers missed out on the chance to go top of the Championship after playing out a goalless draw at The Valley.

In a London derby light on clear-cut chances, neither side could break the deadlock with the match repeating the 0-0 scoreline from the last time they met in February.

QPR dominated possession and created more chances but were unable to deliver a knockout punch, while the hosts had the ball in the net late in the first half only for Tyreece Campbell's effort to be ruled out for offside.

Both sides were looking to bounce back from their first league defeats of the season on Saturday. The draw left QPR fourth in the table, while Charlton climbed two places to fifth.

The visitors will feel they did enough to win the game having dominated 72 per cent of possession as well as playing better build-up football in the middle of the park but they lacked a cutting edge.

Harvey Vale had a curling effort drift narrowly wide from 20 yards after 22 minutes, while Paul Smyth put their best chance too close to Charlton goalkeeper Arthur Okwonkwo when through one-on-one just after the hour.

QPR boss Julian Stephan was also left counting the cost of two more injuries just four days after losing Ilias Chair and Richard Kone against Middlesbrough as Tariq Lamptey and Jimmy Dunne limped off the field.

For the home side there were positives not least in the clean sheet after a 4-0 mauling at Stoke City at the weekend. Despite seeing less of the ball, Charlton also had opportunities to win a match which offered the winners the chance to go top.

Charlton striker Miles Leaburn, who was withdrawn as a precaution at half-time after pulling up late in the first half, could have put them in front after six minutes but headed wide from a corner kick.

After 40 minutes Campbell raced on to a through ball from Oliver Skipp and finished expertly from the edge of the box but the goal was disallowed after he was ruled offside.

West Ham made easy work of Wrexham in a 6-0 victory at the London Stadium to make it four in a row and go top of the Championship.

With the look of a side still belonging to the Premier League, Nuno Espirito Santo's West Ham controlled the game from the outset, overwhelming the visitors at times.

Captain Jarrod Bowen opened the floodgates in the 28th minute, arriving at the far post to convert Manor Solomon's cross after a flowing move.

West Ham continued to press and doubled their advantage seven minutes before half-time. Taty Castellanos drove into the box before finding Joel Piroe, who made no mistake with a first-time finish.

There was no let-up after the interval and Konstantinos Mavropanos headed Bowen's inviting corner beyond Anthony Patterson just three minutes into the second half.

Castellanos added one of his own in the 63rd minute, finishing calmly after Kyle Walker-Peters drove forward before teeing up the Argentina international.

Mohamadou Kante made it 5-0 in the 76th minute, racing onto Manor Solomon's clever ball over the top before finishing past Patterson.

Solomon then got his reward for an excellent individual display, adding the sixth. Walker-Peters teed up the Hammers No 10, who controlled, turned and fired home despite Patterson getting a hand to the effort.

The result lifts West Ham to 14 points from six games, taking them above West Brom at the top of the Championship making a statement with 16 goals in their last four outings after a shaky start.

For Wrexham, it was a chastening night as their previously stubborn defence was breached six times.

Nottingham Forest defeat Aston Villa 2-1.


Igor Jesus' late winner earned Nottingham Forest their first victory at Aston Villa in 32 years and left the hosts still searching for a Premier League win.

The substitute stabbed in with two minutes left as Oliver Glasner's side took a deserved win, the head coach's first with Forest.

Liam Delap had earlier scored his first goal since January to open his Forest account after his £50m summer move from Chelsea.

Alysson levelled for Villa with their first Premier League goal of the season, but the hosts were second best for much of the game.

They could have opened the scoring when Victor Lindelof's strike deflected off Murillo for Sels to turn it on to the post, with Murillo clearing straight to Lindelof – whose instinctive effort was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Yet it was a rare opening with Villa boss Unai Emery taking off £65m record signing Nicolas Jackson at half-time before Forest bossed the second half until Alysson's leveller.

Emery has called for patience after Villa's summer rebuild, but that will be tested after Jesus' late winner.

Bournemouth and Brentford draw 2 all.


Marco Rose's wait for a first Premier League victory as Bournemouth head coach continues as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Brentford at Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries came back from behind to lead 2-1 with goals from Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier but Kevin Schade's double for Brentford denied them three points on Saturday.

After a bright start, Brentford's momentum had begun to fade until Schade put them 1-0 up in the 34th minute.

Adrien Truffert gave away possession cheaply in the final third and Yehor Yarmoliuk floated in a cross that was met with a thumping header from the German winger for his second goal in three matches.

But their lead only lasted four minutes as Kluivert got on the end of a loose ball in the box and fired into the bottom corner with his left foot.

Rose's side then went ahead seven minutes into the second half through Tavernier's third goal of the season.

Antonio Silva's lofted pass into the area was delightfully controlled by Evanilson who teed up Tavernier for a powerful finish beyond Caoimhin Kelleher.

But Brentford also only needed four minutes to restore parity as Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic played a pass straight at Schade, who lobbed the goalkeeper to salvage a point with his second of the game.

Cherries' substitute Ben Gannon-Doak's deflected effort rattled the woodwork in the dying seconds, but a winner proved elusive for both sides.

Bournemouth have three points from four matches while Keith Andrews' Brentford have six.

Chelsea come back from 1 down to draw 2 all with a determined Hull City.


In-form striker Joao Pedro scored a second-half equaliser as Chelsea rescued a point at home to promoted Hull City.

The reigning Premier League Player of the Month curled a shot into the top corner in the 66th minute, but Chelsea were unable to find a winner.

Morgan Rogers had given Chelsea the lead in the seventh minute, but Hull went into the break ahead after Mohamed Belloumi scored twice.

Chelsea's opener arrived later than usual, having scored in the first, second and fourth minutes of their previous three league matches this season.

Club record signing Rogers, their £117m buy from Aston Villa, simply shifted the ball past Matt Crooks before firing a left-footed shot beyond goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis - the first Premier League goal Hull have conceded this season.

The Blues then saw Pedro Neto flick an effort just wide before another curling shot was saved, but a lapse in concentration cost them the chance of a first Premier League clean sheet in 20 matches.

Left-back Jorrel Hato switched off to allow Belloumi to volley in Ryan Giles' cross for a 28th-minute equaliser.

That swung momentum back in Hull's favour as Lewie Coyle forced a save with a low effort before Semi Ajayi headed against the crossbar.

After the ball ricocheted off the woodwork, striker Oli McBurnie reacted quickest to divert it into the path of Belloumi, whose shot found the net via deflections off Levi Colwill and Reece James.

Xabi Alonso brought on Pep Chavarria for Hato at half-time, but Chelsea struggled to break down Hull's defence, with Tzolakis forced into action only by an excellent James free-kick shortly after the restart.

In response, McBurnie saw a close-range effort brilliantly saved by Chelsea goalkeeper Emi Martinez after the Argentine had parried Regan Slater's shot from the edge of the area into his path.

But Joao Pedro smashed a left-foot equaliser inside the near post after an impressive low cross from the left by Cole Palmer in the 66th minute.

Shots from the edge of the box by Palmer and James threatened to add a winner for Chelsea, while Rogers had the best late effort, saved by Tzolakis.

It was nearly all Chelsea late on as Estevao Willian and Danny Welbeck were among those brought on, but Hull substitute Mohamed-Ali Cho had arguably the best chance to win the match in the 87th minute - his poorly struck shot was easily saved.

Hull remain third and Chelsea stay fourth in the table - having played a match more than half of the Premier League's sides.

Ipswich Town defeat a 10 man Crystal Palace 3-2.


Zian Flemming scored his first goal for Ipswich to give the club a late victory over 10-man Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Anan Khalaili opened the scoring for the hosts after Daichi Kamada found the 22-year-old on the right flank in acres of space. His effort - which could have been a shot or a cross - took a deflection off full-back Leif Davis before nestling in the bottom corner of Kjell Scherpen's goal.

Davis soon recovered when he delivered a wicked ball into the box and found the head of Emersonn, whose header powered past Walter Benitez to equalise.

On the stroke of half-time, Ipswich once again found Emersonn in the box, who shouldered the ball in to the path of Davis and he headed home to give Gary O'Neil's side the lead.

Between conceding goals, the Eagles went down to 10 men when Axel Disasi caught Jack Clarke with a late and high foot to the shin.

Palace struggled to create for a lengthy period, but Jorgen Strand Larsen got the better of Issa Diop and rifled home an equaliser before Flemming grabbed the winner for Ipswich at the death.

Liverpool and Fulham end in a scoreless draw.


Fulham and boss Alvaro Arbeloa claimed their first Premier League point of the season with a goalless draw at Liverpool.

Less than 72 hours after the Reds beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Andoni Iraola's side lacked the intensity and urgency they showed on Wednesday night as they failed to score for the first time this term.

Arbeloa came into this game under pressure, with Fulham having lost each of their first three league games since he took charge in the summer. But his side put in a solid away performance and could have taken all three points if they were more ruthless in the final third.

Iraola made three Liverpool changes with Kostas Tsimikas, Ryan Gravenberch and Victor Munoz coming in for Milos Kerkez, Alexis Mac Allister and Rio Ngumoha.

Arbeloa, who played 98 games for Liverpool between 2007 and 2009, made two changes with Austrian centre-back David Affengruber making his debut in place of Joachim Andersen and Sander Berge replacing Cesar Palacios.

Fulham should have taken the lead early on when Jeremy Jacquet had to clear Gonzalo Garcia's effort off the line after a mix-up between keeper Alisson and Ryan Gravenberch that was entirely Liverpool's own doing.

The visitors were better in the opening half but failed to make it count, with Josh King's effort from inside the box saved by Alisson, before Antonee Robinson headed wide.

Munoz's header was kept out by a strong save from Bernd Leno at the other end, while a Bradley Barcola volley was deflected behind by Timothy Castagne for a corner.

Kerkez came on at the break for Tsimikas, who struggled in the first half and by the hour mark Gravenberch and Munoz were also replaced by Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo as Iraola looked to shift the momentum of the game.

Alexander Isak created an opening but his effort was saved comfortably by Leno, before the Fulham goalkeeper kept out a powerful strike from Dominik Szoboszlai.

The hosts made another double change in the 72nd minute with Ngumoha and Jeremie Frimpong introduced, but it was to no avail.

Isak headed wide from an injury-time corner and Fulham - who created late chances through King and Kevin - held on for a valuable point.
