Middlesbrough defeats QPR 1-0 overnight.

Middlesbrough moved up to second in the Championship and ended QPR's unbeaten start to the season with a narrow victory in west London.

Will Lankshear grabbed his seventh goal since his summer move from Tottenham Hotspur in the 20th minute as Boro won on the road for the first time since a 4-0 success at this ground in March.

They missed chances to go further ahead with home goalkeeper Pierce Charles making crucial saves from Lankshear and Tommy Conway.

Without that, QPR grew in belief and were close to an equaliser when Harvey Vale struck the woodwork, while Radek Vitek made some good stops as the hosts slipped one place to third with this defeat after opening with three wins and a draw.

West Ham defeat Derby County 3 zip overnight.


Substitute Edvin Austbo scored his first goal for West Ham to help them overcome Derby County and string back-to-back wins together for the first time since January.

Joel Piroe had put the dominant Hammers up early on, meeting a knock-down header from Taty Castellanos to prod home from point-blank range.

Rams goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom made a number of saves to keep the visitors in the contest until late on, only for Austbo to put the game beyond the Rams with a slotted finish in the 87th minute.

Mohamadou Kante also came off the bench to score his first goal for the club, completing West Ham's second win in five days after they beat Wolves 4-2 for their first Championship triumph of the season.

West Ham thoroughly outplayed Derby for the three points just a day after Daniel Kretinsky increased his stake in the club to 46%, which has effectively frozen former Newcastle director Amanda Staveley out from her attempts to invest in the London club.

While the boardroom moves made headlines before kick-off, it was captain Jarrod Bowen who helped shift the focus back to action in the early minutes at the London Stadium.

It was his cross to the back post that Castellanos cushioned back across goal for Piroe to prod home.
Derby never recovered from the early setback.

Spurs come away with a point drawing 0-0 against home side Nottingham Forest


Tottenham are still waiting for their first Premier League win of the season after a scrappy draw at Nottingham Forest.

Roberto de Zerbi's expensively assembled side had 12 shots but failed to get any of those on target at the City Ground to continue their poor start in the top flight.

They avoided defeat after Neco Williams' second-half goal was ruled out, the full-back adjudged to have bundled the ball in with his arm after some calamitous Tottenham defending.

Micky van de Ven nodded Spurs' best chance wide but the visitors, who started Savio and Omar Marmoush for the first time together, were unable to find a breakthrough.

Including add-ons, Tottenham's summer outlay is over £350m and more is expected from the team after three winless top-flight games.

They are still trying to find an identity following 10 senior arrivals and a point can be viewed as a posiitve but they faced a Forest side also winless and finding their feet under Oliver Glasner.

The hosts felt aggrieved to have Williams' goal disallowed and are still looking for their first home goal of the season as Glasner - who gave a home debut to £50m striker Liam Delap - tries to put his stamp on his new side.

Newcastle leave it late to come back to draw their match with Bournemouth 1 all.


Newcastle fought back from 2-0 down to earn a hard-fought Premier League point at home to Bournemouth thanks to Jacob Ramsey's late equaliser.

The Cherries had taken an early lead when Alex Scott's deflected shot looped into the box and Marcus Tavernier stole a couple of yards on Amar Dedic at the back post and poked the ball under Lukas Hornicek.

Newcastle fans booed the officials after the goal - aggrieved by what they thought was a foul in an earlier phase of play after some grappling between Adrien Truffert and Anthony Elanga.

Bournemouth added a second when Justin Kluivert's fizzing long-range effort hit the post, bounced off the back of Hornicek and dropped to Alex Scott.

The England midfielder's effort from a tight angle spooned off Malick Thiaw beyond Hornicek and was chalked up as an own goal.

Newcastle pulled one back moments later when Harvey Barnes cut inside from the left and curled a stunning right-footed effort into the top corner.

A breathless and entertaining first half was followed by a second period which became more of an arm wrestle.

Newcastle gave a 63rd-minute debut to Belgium forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, signed from Lille for £51m before the transfer window shut, in a bid to provide a bit more impetus.

Bournemouth looked to have shown showed the necessary grit to see out the remainder of the game only for Ramsey to strike with two time minutes of normal time remaining.

A Newcastle attacking move culminated in Thiaw, with his back to goal, knocking the ball down in the box and Ramsey seizing on it to score with a low cushioned finish into the corner of the net.

Magpies were terrible. Very lucky with draw. My fantasy team is a disaster this week! Appreciate the update though. Still gotta have faith in MJ!

Aston Villa draw nil all with promoted side Hull City


Aston Villa remain winless three games into the new Premier League season after a goalless draw at newly promoted Hull City.

Unai Emery's side, who were beaten by Brighton and Arsenal in their opening fixtures, went close to scoring on several occasions but Hull's defence stood strong to ensure the points were shared.

The Tigers, meanwhile, went the closest to a breakthrough in the 65th minute when Mohamed Belloumi's curling effort beat Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki but not the crossbar.

Villa threatened early through Nicolas Jackson whose header from Ian Maatsen's cross drifted just wide inside two minutes, while Ross Barkley sliced an effort from inside the box narrowly wide in the 25th minute.

The biggest talking point of the first half came right at the stroke of half-time when Jackson went down in the box while attempting to reach George Hemmings' cross and after contact from defender Nobel Mendy.

However, Villa's penalty appeals were turned down by both referee Michael Oliver and the video assistant referee (VAR).

John McGinn failed to keep his shot down with just the keeper to beat after Jackson found the Villa captain unmarked in front of goal early in the second half before Algerian winger Belloumi hit the woodwork for Hull.

Villa pressed for a winner but it was Hull who were close to finding one through Mohamed-Ali Cho, only to be denied by Suzuki in the 89th minute.

The Tigers are second with seven points from three games while Villa are 17th.
