Yeah it’s a piss take why tf would a football club advertise on LinkedIn

It's a professional networking platform. I can understand a club attempting to lift its professionalism and standards would use this platform. It is also internationally recognised and the discussions about the former St Helens' coach appears to suggest the platform has a wide net. As for journalists laughing, often I read criticisms of journalists on this very forum.

Richo had linked us to him a year ago so he has probably been headhunted for a long time. It dosent cast a wide net as the only people applying on LinkedIn are idiots doing it as a joke, most professional nrl clubs would have many qualified candidates or would headhunt the people they want

At best, you may find some clubs advertising jobs on the administrative/corporate side.

I've seen coaching jobs on seek many times over the years... perhaps not an NRL head coach job, but assistant coach jobs and even NSW cup coaching jobs.

We’ve just got a bunch of inexperienced 05 boys in nearly every key position at the club and an inexperienced CEO in Shaun M (tbf think he has been good so far but he ain’t Richo).

I would believe that these positions are snapped up quickly by utilising connections and word of mouth.

I've seen similar regarding corporate/ pathway roles being advertised which makes sense as there is a wider pool you can recruit from, but first grade coaching positions are rare, specialised and very small pool to recruit from. Like you said, they're snapped up very quickly via connections and behind closed doors.

Maybe they should, they don’t always end up with the best assistant coaches themselves.
It’s a bit strange that an assistant rugby league coach is being advertised on LinkedIn, but it has got plenty of attention so there is no harm done and who’s tjo say the winning applicant will be anyone who applies on LinkedIn?
