OFFICIAL Jeral Skelton #294

[GNR4LIFE]

I've often thought of that possibility, problem is I doubt Skelton has the motor or defense for the 2nd row.

People just see the size and think “back rower”. It’s the most overused trope in the history of the forum. That and the terms “clean out” and “deadwood”.

[Rock Hopper Steve]

That and the terms “clean out” and “deadwood”.

Comes with being a bottom 4 team, some of the cleanouts have turned out to be decent players, the pressure to improve can cause irrational decisions/impatience.

[Vicious]

Jonathan Sua (from Canturbury) has gone to Perth.

I am wondering if Skelton will go back to the Dogs.

The Bulldogs have lost all depth in the outside backs, so they will be looking to pounce on a few players that won’t cost them a lot, so it’s highly likely Skelton will be a target:
Due to his size and power I rate Skelton as a more valuable winger than Turuva, but that’s another story,
It’s highly likely our preferred option will be having Makasini on the left wing and Turuva on the right wing.
Junior Tupou is supposedly on a very small contract with his previous clubs contributing and that being the case he would be providing us with great value and is likely to be our 3rd winger option when we are full strength.
Skelton is not going to hang around and be 4th choice when he would be definitely 3rd choice if not starting at clubs such as the Bulldogs or the Eels.

[Tom Shines]

I wonder what the true story is here.

I cant see why we havent re-signed him

Whos.his.agent?

You would think he should have been re-signed some months ago … before they got Junior Tupou back…assume Skelton has had his papers marked that he won’t be back for some time … maybe he didn’t see eye to eye with BM…

Would have been a nice to have depth piece ..but looks like it’s gunna be Junior and Tavana as the depth wingers

[happy_tiger]

Any back with a bit of size gets the “i think he’s a back rower” schtik sooner or later.

It's called pure Sheenius

[craigtob]

Unfortunately he is too big and runs way too hard for Benji to keep him
Benji likes small, non impact players on the wing.

On the nsw cup highlights for last week the bunnies winger look very good. No 2.

For a change would like fast, smart, competent winger

Looks like he's on the move.
Thanks Jeral.

[Fish88]

Looks like Jeral Skelton is gone, just thanked the club on his Instagram. I thought he was underrated for us but it’s probably a position now where he would only ever be depth.

Be nice if the club let everyone know who is leaving and thank them.

Our problem this season was lack of depth and not having a next man up mentality, and now we are releasing good depth. Make it make sense, Benji!

[wstigers11]

Got good value out of Jeral, hopefully an NRL club still picks him up

[Bula]

Dignified exit.

[GNR4LIFE]

Solid player, but not fussed about this. Opens the door for Tino.

Where is this club on letter us know who is going and thank them gee it’s still very poorly run , Shaun needs to pull his finger out and get things done a bit better

Our admin has gotten worse in the past year

[bptiger 0]

Really he has been a good winger for us , sorry to see him go , the other wingers we have got are very poor , no wonder we keep going backwards

[clontarfkid]

Weve got plenty of large wingers...but the game has moved on
We need taller... more athletic... pacier wingers.
Look at Roosters /Dolphimns/
Dont fall off trees ,but thats what we shld be pursuing rather than another 105kg unstoppable beast from 10 metres out
Yesterdays hero
Panthers are getting there too with To.o

[orange&black]

Best of luck and big thanks to Jeral!!
I thought for the most part he played strongly when he was given an opportunity. He is a quality finisher and a tough runner from yardage.
Leaves us short on depth, however realistically he may get better opportunities elsewhere with Maka, Tupou, Tito and Tavana all vying for wing spots.

[innsaneink]

Sad to see him go...got our sets off well but defensively not too hot.
Im sure we'll hang onto someone worse
