2027 half back and five eigth

No matter how you look at it, we will have the worst halves pairing in the comp next year. I don't see too many wins. We need experienced heads in those positions and that we don't have.

Not "no one", rather, a few and far between group that saw Jock as our best halfback option whilst probably in agreement with many of those seeing him as meh.
Let's not get carried away, he is a fringe first grader but he is the only half with a relatively decent kicking game and he opens up to his outside men.

He is the best option, but it doesn't mean he is an outstanding one.

Amazing that people are still prepared to name AD in the side, and even in the halves?
I’m picking our half at 7 and the plethora of 5/8’s can fight it out for the 6.
Except AD, he needs to find a position where he doesn’t have to tackle or pass. There’s a pool cleaning job going at Drumoyne.
I’d be getting a kicking coach in (and not Pat or Hodgo), a real kicking coach. It seems like no-one out of our one halfback and million 5/8’s can kick.

Andrews can kick goals!

Do you mean general play kicking or goal kicking? In regards to general play, I have said for years we should bring in an AFL guy to help with our general play kicking. I know the balls are different, but I believe they can offer something in regards to how to position and drop the ball for best contact and accuracy. They definitely could help with attacking high kicks across field for the backrower, centre and winger. Something we desperately need to get better at. All we have is a kick down them iddle for Bula, we need to start using Sam and KPP on the edges as well. I also think they will help with our long kicking game and ability to find the grass. Darren Lockyer was a great AFL style general play kicker, drilling the ball into space without having the biggest boot. Latu could really use it.

Latu isnt a 7
The club needs to stop trying to do this.
Its probably the most important positio on the field.
Do we actually know Latu isn't a 7?

We've not seen him there to not perform. I think his style of ball playing is very much suited to 7, organisation and kicking game I'm yet to see it but also yet to see him given that opportunity. Apparently he did a very good job of it the couple games he's played there in reggies though I didn't watch them to see for my self.

If you are kicking for grass between players, kick it low and hard to get there faster, NOT BOMBS for grass where defenders are given time to get under it.
But you need a manager who is thinking ahead of the play, field position a long way from your tryline.

Yep, when I said kicking coach I literally thought NFL punter/AFL. There’s been a couple of Aussies that have done both. Imagine being the bloke who gave Madden a super-boot, coach of the year would be an assistant for the first time ever.

This is a ridiculous statement. Im certainly not saying Madden should be our first choice 7, but to say he should never play NRL again is borderline lunacy. You do realise we won 8 games last year and he was half in 6 of those 8. Thats a fair back up 7.
Madden has proven to need the strongest side around him then he can deliver, he wasn't the only one who looked ordinary when the injury toll hit.

I have no favourites for who starts in the halves next season, whoever works their arse off over the summer gets the nod, as it should be.
