2027 half back and five eigth

Would like to see this, but not sure Benji will drop AD. Might depend on how the preseason pans out.
Really madden would need to improve his defence by 100% , he also needs to add more pace to his game , NOW everyone thinks his kicking is good , kicking it down the fullbacks throat , is not what we need , the opposition brings the ball back twenty meters all the time .

His kicking is generally better rhan.last we saw after his recovery from nut surgery.
Thing is all who qualify for the halves be it 6 or 7 have deficiencies in their games...we have no one outstanding in all facets of play

Do you mean general play kicking or goal kicking? In regards to general play, I have said for years we should bring in an AFL guy to help with our general play kicking. I know the balls are different, but I believe they can offer something in regards to how to position and drop the ball for best contact and accuracy. They definitely could help with attacking high kicks across field for the backrower, centre and winger. Something we desperately need to get better at. All we have is a kick down them iddle for Bula, we need to start using Sam and KPP on the edges as well. I also think they will help with our long kicking game and ability to find the grass. Darren Lockyer was a great AFL style general play kicker, drilling the ball into space without having the biggest boot. Latu could really use it.
Not saying we don't need a coach, but kicking IMO comes down to reps.

Our main kickers in AD and Latu are injured half the time.

The technique part of it is obviously where AFL kickers can help and Cooper Cronk is a testament to that. But, even before technique, game knowledge is more important. Building the set to the point where you can get a decent kick away, positioning around the ruck and the support players in between.

I personally don't think "kicking" is bad, it's all the stuff that goes around it that we suck in.

Our issues whether you look at kick chase, last tackle options, attack in opp 20, D in the middle of the field etc.. all comes down to consistently not working for each other. We don't offer support runners, we don't have people scrambling, we lack effort on effort plays, poor marker D etc.

Look at the Warriors halves.. they are not that good.. but Eagan and the forwards give them so much time amd space. Our forwards have good games every now and then but guys like Fainu, Pole, KPP etc.. just do their job, take the hit ups, chime in the backline etc but don't go the extra metre to consistently block the kick pressure.

Here is hoping guys like Mann and Frizz can teach our forwards what it takes to do this every single play because our coaching stuff doesn't know how to do it.

I genuinely hope we go with Latu and Andruws . And say Screw it - the future is now . Form dependant of course , especially defence .

I am not against giving it a shot whilst we have Madden there to help guide them and fill in as needed, and just as important, we now have a good experienced pair of edge forwards alongside to help.

They will probably need an occasional stint in reserves, but that is normal.

Recent History shows that you need one of your best players (Big Money) at no:7 to win when it counts.
Unfortunately in our squad we don’t have that and don’t seem to have the salary to make it happen.
Luai was not that type of player, so glad to see him move on.
The recruitment team need to plan ahead and get someone (a 7 not another 6)
At the moment we have to many 6’ers

??? This years premiers best player was a fullback , defeating the other teams best player —- a fullback . Defeating a team in the semi finals who’s best player was a centre . The only team in the final 4 who’s best player was a halfback was the panthers

There are very little 'classic' organising halfbacks in the NRL these days. It's a common theme that teams have too many 6's and not enough 7's.

Can get away with someone like Jock if he's paired with a creative gun 6 and 1, but unfortunately we don't have that.

I’m beginning to think Latu & Javon is the preferred pairing

Latu is not exactly a rookie, he’s had two seasons with us and played over 30 games, albeit the majority off the bench. Plus for whatever it is worth he’s an international

Javon Andrews has already debuted at 18, same as Galvin and is a bigger build than Lachie so he’s developed enough for NRL

I just can’t see Madden as anything more than a backup option and it’s hard to imagine Douehi, if he even stays, doesn’t get shifted to lock or centre if we have injuries

I’m team Latu & Javon, 6 & 7 in whatever combination the coach chooses
