Renshaw out for 74 but at least it looks like we have found an opener for the short term at very least

He was fine when he debuted, but we had to drop him because he had an ordinary start to a Shield season so they went on to mess around with the opening rotation for a decade and fart arse around with failures like Marcus Harris before finally bringing him back. Hopefully he has a Hussey-esque career and still manages to grind out a respectable 6 or 7 thousand run Test career in his later years.

I was very worried about our top order. When we’ve scrapped to 300 it’s generally been our mid or lower order to get us out of trouble. Good scoreline to see and without Smith in the top order. Pleased to see Inglis get selected and get a good score. Love to see him go on with it tonight.

Green .A great 65 .A bonus better than I expected .given so little cricket

Carey a slow composed 50 not out . Just what was needed .
Seems we might be giving birth to our new batting line up .
Throw in Konstas for Marnus and a good summer ahead .

Weve been saying that for a year or more. I think he got his trip back to SA to catch up with relatives and friends but surely his time has come.
Only other option would be to drop him down the order to about 6-7 where he wouldn’t be facing the quicks early on.
Bloody annoying and frustrating, we virtually concede à man every time he’s picked !

If he bats in the 2nd innings it has to be his absolute last chance
The first hour will be crucial .....don't lose a wicket and we can set ourselves up with a sizable lead

what happens when Smith returns?
his catching in the slips shows his reflexes are still good. His technique against the swings ball in England has been good in the past. The next Ashes series in England takes place from 18 June to 2 August 2027. Hopefully he's form doesn't drop before then.

Comes straight in for Marnus and he will need to bat 3 because thats what the team needs
