Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

CEO Shaun cleared up a number of roster questions in his thread. In summary:

Charlie Murray is in the top 30
Still working on the official announcements for Mason and Sukkar (sounds like they will happen)
Shaun said we will have 1 spot remaining in top 30 to consider options

Christian Taupau-Moors is a Dev deal in 27
Pheonix Godinet is on a dev deal for 2027
Bryenton T&T in 2027

Archie Duncombe is on a pathway deal with a T&T in the future

Don’t get retaining Mason. Was odd man out even in the Cup side

Don’t know why the dogs let him go
I know speaking to his dad the Dogs wanted him and he had a lot clubs after him. Mikey never wanted to leave us to begin with, the Scott Fulton issues with Benji at NRL level saw him go, he was the Harold Matts player of the year when he did go and Conti followed soon after. Fulton lost us several gun juniors like the Large and Clarke brothers, with Nasser and Conti its some decent juniors we lost. Hopefully we can get a few back.

Thats my concern. Why has the Roosters and Dogs let him go?
In short it was the Moses effect. Roosters let him go because of the Moses / Politis issues, he went to the Dogs for the remainder of his contract, he was on a NRL T&T at the Roosters at 16/17 years old, they wanted to keep him but not deal with Moses, I remember Buzz went to town on Moses a few times over it.

He is 19 now turning 20 in December, Weird how it worked out at the Tigers because Tigers and Moses weren't on the best terms. I know his dad has been on the Wests Juniors board for a long time and that association is still current now I think.

Yeah it's odd especially given the depth now in positions he can play.

Fullback: Bula, Attard, Bryenton, Nassar (Averillo as well)
5/8: Latu, Javon, Doeuihi, Averillo, Bryenton (possibly Schuster)
Lock: Twal, Mann, Brailey, Seyfarth, Sione, Lanyon, Murray, Havea Jr, Van Drie (possibly Doeuihi)
Hooker: Api, Brailey, Hayward, Lanyon, Havea Jr (even Mann can be thrown in there)

The only option I'd be ok with is if Mason is now physically trained & coached to be a Kurt Mann protege. High energy lock who can pinch hit at dummy half in short bursts & fill in as depth in the halves during a game if injuries strike.

No more fullback & cannot defend at centre.

I'd be fine with it if we weren't so loaded up in all the positions Heath plays. given that Murray's in the 30 it really makes it difficult. I understand Mann's probably only here for 12 months but it's a roster spot and $150k we probably needed to keep free, and I say this as someone who likes Heath.

Yes agreed. It potentially also reduces the game time of Josese Lanyon in NSW Cup in that lock/hooker role (especially with Brailey in the squad and Murray). Maybe Murray will played as a small-ball prop in Cup moving forward too.

yeah I fear we're going to lose Junior given the amount of blokes on full time deals in his role. I think he's got something we need to hold onto. I couldn't believe his performances at the WC, even against NZ when Fiji got whacked.

He was super hey especially in his D. I hope the club plays him at least 50/50 in a lock role next season as he's got so much ability in that position imo. Yeah that is a fear plus with the big unknown of Manase Fainu in the background who could be in the mix in 12-18 months.
