Lachlan Galvin #277

No not lazy, just much easier for you to check your own post mate. I'm not great at quoting this post along with a previous one, so I'll do it the hard way and point out how your post was not written as an opinion but worded to imply fact. I'll higher case the words that show your indicating fact.

"An 18 year old will NOT be selected in the halves in first grade because of 1 or 2 decent trial matches".

For the record, no one has said it just because of two trial matches, clearly there would be more to it.

"He WILL NOT BE PICKED ahead of Sullivan or Fainu to start the season"

"IT WILL NOT HAPPEN"

"So let's get back to REALITY".

Maybe I'm wrong, but they are all strong statements of fact the way they are worded. All I'm saying is it isn't fact, we have no idea. I certainly don't.
The goofiest part is that Galvin and Fainu are pretty much the same age. Fainu has played like 6 reserve grade games and one of them was at centre. Galvin probably would have but instead focused on playing the full possible extent of Schoolboys football and put together one of the greatest schoolboys runs ever. I can't think of a Tigers junior that had a more dominant Schoolboys career than him as I'm not entirely sure its possible to.

But besides the point the idea that an 18 year old won't be picked in the halves because of 1 or 2 trial matches is very funny given who our coach is. Hell Jahream Bula only played 3 NSW cup games. People need to get over this thinking NSW cup is a must on the way to first grade. If anything there's less of a correlation between playing it and being a genuine superstar than there is between skipping it and being one.

I would be of the opinion personally that any of our young guns who have impressed in the pre season and standout in the trials, will receive favour with the coaching staff and will have their ascension to the top grade fast tracked as long as they can prove consistency in the senior pathways teams this year.
Except the ones that blow the doors off everyone at training and demonstrate they are superior to their competition in their position. It's not unprecedented, it's just unlikely.

Exactly. Last year Bula tore up in the trial and was picked in reggies and didnt debut until Round 8.
Bula got injured very early in the NSW cup season and then Sheens picked him in NRL straight off the injury shelf.

But no one is saying that Mate.
I think you miss understand why I’m countering.

Most are saying he will probably get a crack during the season. They want to give him a crack but under abit of duress on the body first.

Many have been listing Fainu, TDS & plenty of the kids in their 17 or fringe. They are all 18/19 or so.

You’re focus is heavy on Galvin & no one else really.

Why aren’t you pumping Fainu up? He is 18, was touted the next big thing by a mile and what 2mths older than Galvin but has been playing against the boppers for last 18mths on/off. Heck the dolphins coach said he is NRL ready and should’ve played him more at the world cup.

The reason people are backing off Galvin for the moment isn’t because the kid doesn’t have it it’s because plain and simply put they want him to be successful and in time he will be. Their is a view from various fans that have others infront that are more nrl ready, it’s his 1st big boy preseason and he hasn’t played up a grade really yet.

Time will tell, hope they all lift & perform because that’s one heck of a headache to have for a club like ours.
You might not realise it from your vantage point but Vicious is being bombarded with comments from a bunch of folks who aren't capable of framing their comments without sounding like they're being insulting and then when called out on it are masters of strawmanning and shifting the goal posts. I can absolutely see why the guy is frustrated and it's hilarious that it's the same old posters that have chased away everyone else doing it and then cheering and hi fiving each other.

Here's an idea. If someone is vocalising your negative opinion on your behalf, hit the like button on their post and move on. Replying with the exact same opinion as someone else just forces Vicious to reply with the same answer 5 times and then get accused of being obsessive.

You should try that yourself

You should try that yourself
It's pretty fine when half a dozen of you are still blathering on about how Vicious must be related to Galvin and implying he's got an agenda. Typical that you piped up though. This place is one day gonna be nothing but you talking to yourself like crap when you run out of people to insult.

He also wasn't top 30 and couldn't be picked
He got upgraded prior to being selected in round 8 which could have occurred at any time but yeah whatever decision they were making in terms of holding back on upgrading him was certainly another reason he didn't play earlier and a reason that doesn't apply to Galvin.

We don’t just need good trainers, we’ve had them before.
We need good players who will perform on the field.
If the kid can do this, great.
I’d be very surprised if he is ahead of players we have paid lots of money for and that’s my stance until we see them go.

I’ve never once said that to Vicious, so take your sooking elsewhere.

I seem to recall that Jaream was named in the team before he was actually officially announced as top 30 and I remember thinking at the time that they must have changed the round 10 ruling or something like that.

Obviously his promotion to a top 30 spot must have been in motion at that time, just not officially announced before the Tuesday afternoon team announcement.

Don't know about anyone else but I was completely surprised by his promotion as he had only played a small number of cup games at that stage and was hardly carving it up from memory and even more baffling was that he was just back from injury and hadn't played for a couple of weeks.

Really ballsy move I thought at the time, but one that certainly came off much to my surprise because I was really thinking he was being thrown under the bus and was going to be exposed big time.

To Sheens' credit he had been talking Jaream up for some time.

100%.
That was a terrific call by Sheens.
Is it possible Benji is following his lead with Galvin?

there's definitely something going on given the noise around him all preseason, very similar to Bula last year.

I don't expect him to start the year, but he will definitely debut at some point. that said, he could make himself impossible to leave out if he brains both trials, which I do see as unlikely, but not out of the question.

Ink I can’t continue to answer silly questions.
How about we wait and see if anyone performs exceptionally well throughout the trials and wait and see who ends up in our NRL side come round 2.
Silly questions is what you get when you make stupid statements

Benji, Morris, Farah and Heigho are all in the business of winning football matches and they will perish if they don’t . So I guess they are going to pick the best 17 they have at their disposal. So if Galvin gets picked Benji sees him as the best option.

Personally I think Sezer is the player with the most question marks. Will he be able to keep up with the pace of the game now and will he be up to the physical challenges. Will his experience and kicking game take us up the ladder. I have my doubts

The NSW cup team selections were atrocious. The entire year was a developmental waste of time. Other clubs were playing their gun juniors in NSW cup ala Fainu and co. but we held them back.
@Vicious, is this what you meant?
