Live music - Bands you have seen/Are planning to see

I'm so glad to be reading about so many people who are still regularly attending live music! Over the last 15 years I've been doing it I can assure you that its dying. Especially at the grassroots level. Less and less pubs are having live music and those that still do just aren't willing or able to pay what they used to. The average pub band is making between $800 and maybe $1200 for a 4hr gig which is then split between 4 or more people. The average band made the same or more money in the 80s. There aren't many full time musos left. I actually have my first gig of the year this Saturday night after a few months off and i am absolutely hanging for it now!!
By the way, this is my band The Trade-Ins. If you're in the Hunter valley or Newcastle check us out and say hi!

Pearl Jam world tour announced. Sydney 21st of Nov. I'm a little disappointed with the price of tickets.

One of my all time favourite tours, perhaps the greatest ever was U2‘s Zoo Tv. The show they played in 93 at the SFS is probably one of the greatest recorded live shows of all time. They were at their absolute peak. It was a few years before I was old enough to attend and if I could go back and see anyone, with the exception of The Doors, it would be U2 on this tour. I could almost dedicate an entire thread to this tour and how much affection i have for it. This was them at their peak, and with some attitude after they had been ridiculed throughout the 80’s for taking themselves too seriously. So they responded with this. Bono creating alter egos. One was The Fly. Dressed in all leather, a bit of a nod to Jim Morrison, with huge bug eyed sunglasses. And another, MacPhisto, a gold suit wearing devil who would call the White House on stage and ask to speak to George Bush. Also, one night, I think it was in Chicago, he called a local pizza place and tried to order 20,000 pizza’s, or some crazy number like that. I think the best the pizza place could do was 50 or 60. So during the encore, after they were delivered, the pizza’s got distributed through the crowd. The visuals with the huge TV screens were very unique for the time too. Very futuristic.

How have you seen prices? I haven’t got TC code yet? What’s GA?

Edit found it. 300 for golden circle a bit high. Expensive month I guess.

I'll be buying them, have no doubt but there was a time when Pearl Jam fought high ticket prices.

The changing music industry doesn't give bands much choice though.

Ticket prices have been a joke since Covid.
