LIVE GAME Trial 2 vs. Dragons

Live Game Discussion
Simpkin still hasn't worked out how to play hooker. I've never seen a hooker more clueless and devoid of any deception attacking the try line. He sends a letter to the opposition telling them what he's about to do.

For the sake of everything holy we don't need 5 years of him working out how to play lock.
We have no standout lock.

It's got to be Pole, or if they want to play him up front, then Sam Fainu offers way more impact in attack and defence than Seyfarth of Plodkin.

Looked no different to last year.... Hopefully that's not what we've been working on and they aren't the processes
It such boring mind numbing footy

. It's embarrassing

Galvin looked at home, not overawed at all looked comfortable and capable
Seems very mature for.one so young

Just watched the post match interview from benji. At least he was truthful and honest about what he saw and what now needs to be done. Basically he admitted we were awful and there were really no positives (apart from Galvin) to take away from that.
Alarm bells are ringing

why’d Seyfarth trim down so much? guy was getting bullied in the middle out there
We got brutalised by Saints all over the park , we need to improve ten fold simple as that

Galvin is the child Prince. I'm a believer.

Must be in the team. Everything he did was high quality. Benji said he was played in 4 positions and looked good in all of them. Can't disagree.

My concern with him was his physicality against men, but he was up to the task.

New management, new coaching setup, new halves & new combos… all pre season the forum pleaded patience & are throwing it out after 2 trial games. Patience is required lads change isn’t happening overnight.
I think most don't expect instant success, but most expect progress. There were zero signs of that last night *** insert disclaimer about it being a trial and not meaning anything here*** Thats why people are disappointed. I'm not losing my head, as you say it won't happen overnight but as a supporter I don't understand how you couldn't be be at least a little disappointed with what was served up last night and the manner in which they were absolutely dominated ***insert another disclaimer about it being a trial.

Maybe you should drop the Pom Poms and the mini skirt and stop your pathetic cheerleading?
We all know that by mid season you will go 100% the other way calling all our players every name under the sun in pages of over the top rants that eclipse anything we are saying right now.
I must say that your fundamental lack of understanding as to how we got to where we are always amuses me.

Eyyyyy I'm not that bad lol. Give it a month or 2!

Maybe we been putting up with this rot a bit longer than you bud?
We might judge the team on how they actually play, and what’s clearly missing for a long time now…
not how nice they were to us at the kebab shop after training…

Yeah mate, that's the one...you've been putting up
with all this longer than me & I cut them too much
slack because we're mates at the kebab shop hehe

Talk that talk, the people in the back can't hear you!

the fact that we got completely outplayed by a team that clearly wanted it more might be a crucial lesson we had to learn before the season proper. time will tell of course, but it may assist in getting us in the right place quicker.

That said there’s a lesson in there for Benji. We don’t have the talent to create something from nothing in attack. It’s why he wanted Luai. We need to buy strike athletes out wide. We have a lack explosion speed and power.

Not wrong Tyg. That 9 minute ram-raid down our
right was the most concerning part. I think they
flooded bud with traffic knowing how he defends,
you add lightweight To'a & Staines next to him, it
was a bit of a disaster. My only concern is that edge.
I mentioned earlier i don't think those 2 can play
together on the same side. Not convinced Lobb is
the answer as he's a bit slow to turn, Bateman will
sure that side up though, I'm not stressing (just yet)

Benji looked stressed in the post match. I don't think he was expecting that.

We need us much attacking flair as we can get. We struggled getting over the line again. I'd persist with bud in the halves, and play Galvin in a centre spot.

The signs were there last week against a mostly B grade 12 man Warriors team that out muscled and out enthused our guys. Last week we had a lot more juniors playing, but this week we have no excuses for not being able to match the enthusiasm and aggression of a team who are touted as this year’s spooners.
Benji said it all in his post game interview. The least he expects is that every player will play with hunger and intent and 100% effort and he didn’t get that.
With the squad we have this season, we need to play with that intense desire and effort every game if we have any chance to win some games, otherwise we’ll end up with less wins than last year.

Agree to disagree I guess. I think he's a good player and people are very harsh on him but we are all entitled to our own opinions and I respect urs. Not all players but some I believe would benefit from a positional change. I could be so wrong but couldn't hurt trying him there in NSW cup or something
WOW!!! the difference in the tone of this post as compared to the previous post no. 755.
Yours is respectful (y) to the other posters opinion (y).

Dragons ran and tackled like they meant it. I would imagine Flanagans philosophy will be, we are not a great team but we are going to get really fit and try and do everything at full pace.
That’s what he could have bought to us but Benji must take a similar tack. I hope Olam is not going to turn out to be a crock.
Disappointing,( yet again) do now we wait ( again) to see if Benji has a magic wand.

Good assessment.

Benji needs to get out of playing at training. It's not helping.

Clear from the first 5 sets we wanted to set a solid
platform and the gameplan Was to simulate a game
and assert dominance which I thought we did okay,
just thought we were too conservative in attack as
mentioned in commentary. I felt we kept it in the
holster when we should have taken shots. Those
silly wrap-around plays and one-outs were annoying
to watch. Would have been nice to see us show our
hand a bit more rather than play that brand of footy
so early on when combos are key. I can't remember
a trial where players were chopper and changed,
some in multiple positions at different times. We
shouldn't have tinkered too much given its the final
trial, but a lot of the starters got a good run which
Was really nice to see. That and no injuries of course!

I fear that Bud is just going to be that rocks and diamonds player that we are trying to weed out of the club, not introduce.
