Why does this feel all too familiar?
We haven't even played a game yet.
4 of those players are our centre depth. Olam, Naden and Doueihi are probably our best 3 when fully fit.

Are you the real Warren Boland?...Captain of the Mighty Magpies.
Wouldn't be a bad thing, great winger, great captain and went on to be a wise commentator on the game. But no, he was captain when I started following Rugby League. Friends who were supporters of the Magpies took me out to Lidcombe for games and I was hooked. First try scorer raffles, collections for Bob Cooper (after a massive suspension) in the stands, classic canteen, smell of denco everywhere, you could see the players up close....and mad fans. Magpies were a fighting team in those days.

Like the idea of
Fonua Pole and Samuela Fainu coming off the bench and supplying some much needed power in our middle, hopefully we are still in the game when they come on.
For all our sakes let’s hope we are competitive and be in the game with a chance to win.

I thought it was odd that Faataape didn't play the second trial actually. Maybe Benji had seen enough? Faataape played great in the trial but will be even better with a year of full-time football/another preseason under his belt.
He didn't play cos he copped a head cut in the 1st Trial. Even Pascoes Barber couldn't stop the bleeding.

Yes I remember it all well!

So assuming Sezer is coming off the bench, who will be responsible for kicking? Api contributes from dummy half but who will do most of the general kicking?

I saw a bit of them training this afternoon. It was after 1.30pm so not sure how long they had been out there, but there was no Bateman.

Left side was Sam F, Galvin, Solo and Tupou. Right side was Ice, Bud, Toa and Staines.

Sezer was in the "A" team uniform but playing half in the "B" team.

The bits I watched, were mainly the "A" team defending. The times that they had the ball and Api didnt get back for the play the ball, Bud slotted into Hooker. Make of that what you like.

Some of the injured guys were playing in the mini match, including Latu, Felody. Olam was doing drills by himself. Naden was walking around. Doueihi was running around by himself, kicking balls including a beautiful torpedo bomb.

This worries me defensively
me too, but it depends on how they approach it. if Papali'i, Sullivan and To'a don't get up off their line similar to how they went about it against St George, then yes we're in trouble. but if their linespeed and contact is strong then we won't have as many issues.

fingers crossed they've tightened things up these past few weeks after that trial.

Thanks for the report. Bateman did feature in the club's training pics today on their socials.

That's good to hear. 4 times I've watched a bit of training, and I've only seen him there once, a month ago, and he was getting treated for a foot/ankle injury. We don't have enough depth, so the less injuries the better.

Opal was definitely training and I’m opposed sessions and appeared to be running full-tilt. Must of aggravated his knee during this training session. Doesn’t look great for him/us, twice he’s failed with that knee. How aren’t they managing this injury better??
