TEAM LIST Round 3 vs. Sharks

Team List
Wow, bit of negativity there. Being a wests Tigers is kinda like having blind faith, hoping they can always win regardless of who they play.
Who cares what the other team thinks or tells themselves, I am all about the Tigers!!!
You tell 'em barnsta

sorry Karen, but I'm gonna disagree on this one. Luke Brooks played the best he had in 5 years under Marshall and Sheens. Wakeham, albeit hopeless in the back end of the year, was a serviceable half for much of the season, which I once again attribute to our coaching staff. Doueihi looked to have turned the corner before his ACL, and we managed to convert Daine Laurie into a threatening on ball 6.

Marshall knows what he's doing, I saw plenty in last week's game to indicate as such. I think we'll improve on last week's performance and build towards a win this week. I'm not saying we'll get the two points, but we will certainly give Cronulla a run for their money.
I honestly think Cronulla is way too ruthless for us to be a chance or for the scoreline to be close. 13 +

Sharks have started slow then build.
They are a momentum team.

Knights were the better team until they kicked out on the full twice and had 2 tries not given.

Bulldogs also were in the hunt and better team for chunks of the game some interesting calls went against them and Sharks kicked on.

What we can’t do is start slow or we will be smashed. We start well and who knows what could happen.

I think we will win this week. Stef, Ice & Pole will produce big games. Bula and Galvin will take a heap of confidence from moments from last week and be a handful. Api will cause plenty of headaches around the ruck. Olam has a chip on his shoulder will add a bit of starch out wide. Sounds stupid but I seen small snippets last week to get a good feel about this week. And before anyone asks I am not drunk or taken any substances.
Sleeping?

Im an uber driver and today i dropped somebody right next to the zurich centre .The fg team were training at an ground nextdoor.I thought i was watching a real game such was the intensity.Hope they bring that on sat night.
Ahh so that’s what’s wrong, they play their best game during the week and then are too stuffed to repeat it on the weekend!

Do you mean the Warriors rather than the Knights mate?

I’m not overly concerned with the Sharks pack ,although better than ours .
It’s their outside backs with Hynes steering the ship that I feel could really embarrass us.

Ahh had a moment. Knights was v Raiders my bad.

Warriors were half baked and missed a heap of chances against Sharks. They just for some reason didn’t attack & looked flat most the game. Sharks defended well but weren’t tested.

Sharks and Raiders are very similar teams.
They play the grind out style.

I know its easier said than done but if Benji can just get these bloke to understand what is needed in the game we would be alot more comfortable going into the Sharks game...
What I mean is,play to the gameplan, commit in defense and attack, support your man with the ball and have discipline (no giveaway penalties or 6 agains),errors are costly...
I think we can become competative, but all of the players young and old have to step up and earn their place and paycheque, this is the NRL not backyard footy,,,I have played with and known some very good rugby league players over the years and all of them would have given 300% just for the opportunity to play in the big arena including myself, these guys need to take that opportunity given to them and do their very best....all of them have skills and ability Benji has to get the best out of each of them...

This seems true.

What I want to know is, why every year the Tigers seem underdone compared to other teams.
They appear lethargic with no line speed etc whereas the opponents just do everything quicker and at speed

I was happily reading along and all of a sudden cornflakes everywhere.

You can not be serious? This must be a joke? The fact that Sheens and the coaching staff that included Benji backed Douhie and Lick Bricks to be the saving halves was the number one reason we came last. Did they not watch any games the couple of years previous? And Douhie got another contract too, that we are still paying the price for.
And Diane Laurie was always a 6, our illustrious coaching staff tried and failed to turn him into a FB.
Still luv ya Benji.
When I clean up the cornflakes I probably won’t be reading any more of that post.
no depth in the halves is what killed us, so I do agree with you in the sense that we gambled on two halves not going down and performing. we had Doueihi, Brooks, Wakeham, Smith and Laurie, and it all went to hell once the first one headed to the casualty ward.

Brooks turned the corner only to get injured at a time when we needed him most and that resulted in our downward spiral, to the point where there were plenty of people that were hoping he would return. that is fact. our squad planning was horrendous, no doubt, but the first few weeks of the year aside, Brooks did his job. he was shocking the years previous, but 2023 was not a poor year.

Doueihi was shocking to begin the year much like Brooks, but by the time he had adjusted to the style of play we needed his knee blew up. that contract thankfully was not what it could have been. I was told that Marshall offered him a $2.4m deal over 3 years and Doueihi said he wanted to perform to his true value. I'm sure you're a little more thankful now knowing what could've been if it weren't for his ego.

Laurie playing fullback is on Madge, Hartigan and the football department of that time. we all know that he was holding the seat for Bula, Sheens said as much himself. the conversion to 6, in my view, can be attributed to Marshall. Laurie that Marshall played a massive role there.

I don't really want to go back and address 2023, I still have scars from it myself. but the statement that was made was around the fact that the halves didn't improve last year, when I am of the opinion that they did. if you disagree with me, that's fine too, but that's the direction I took.

100%. We just need to nail them hard with aggressive defence straight from the kick off I would actually kick off so we can beat down on them first , if they are not on top they are beatable

I love some of the optimism on here.
Sharks haven’t lost at our “8th wonder”, (the Sharks fortress) since 2014.
I won’t be backing or tipping us, although Sharks with Katoa as anytime scorer has to be a good thing.
