Wests Tigers Home Ground Mega Thread

Rubbish parking is fine, just get there earlier. We parked near the orange grove, after the game 5 minutes we were out. Heaps of lame supporters expecting to come in with 5 minute to go before kick off and get a spot in front, please!!
Go ti any big stadium park in a multi storey car park and sit there for 30-50 minutes trying to get out. Reality people…
Orange Grove school was doing parking also.
Think that's a smart play.
Make some money for the school and utilise their space that isn't being used with it being evening/the weekend.

The rubbish all over the hill after the game is pretty disgusting.

Haters gonna, hate, hate, hate, hate!

Brent Read is a journalistic dickhead. Leaving the whole Leichhardt oval thing aside NRL may be big business but the reality is crowds just aren't there for NRL games which they all hope for. Derby games get a decent showing but out of town teams don't fill stadiums. Any move to the bigger stadiums will be risky with our supporter base. Parramatta stadium is not our ground either they need to stop promoting this idea too.

As much as i adore Leichhardt Oval being an ex Balmain supporter from the mid 1960's neither it or Campbelltown will ever be what our homeground should be imho.We need to move to Homebush because it has the facilities parking and is centrally located for our Sydney based supporters even though it is not a great place to watch football at.Parra stadium is not and will never be an acceptable stadium for us as it would never be our home ground,Homebush will over time

I went there as a boy and loved the atmosphere, hooked for life on rugby league. I've never cared a damn about the facilities. People are so sensitive to everything being generic these days.

I take my kids to the game there and they love it. They're girls and all their mates are into AFL because that's the inner west these days. But they're fans of rugby league and the tigers because of Leichhardt.

I'd say we move from there when we need a stadium to house 40k people regularly. That's when we've outgrown it. As it is, no place better with a crowd of 15k to watch the game. It connects us to our history and our region. Very important we stay there.

I also am not of the brigade calling for it to be upgraded. It works fine, just maintain it.

Looking forward to campbo in a couple of weeks too. I don't have the same connection to it, and unfortunately the team usually let's the crowd down when we play there, but it feels like a home ground there as well.

Bankwest is a monolith for corporates and Parra fans. Even after one of our rare wins there it feels empty. It's not our home and can't be.

Homebush location could work. That stadium though will not create fans and a desire to go to matches. Anything but that. I hate that stadium for local games.

if we take homebush now we really can take over the area from the dogs, makes sense as close to COE
play trial games at CSS and set the academy at campbletown

Amco cup / mid week , loved it and went to many games , lived in Guildford but was happy to travel , the old girl was a great sight last night , choc full , we keep winning games the crowds will turn up , 15.990 last night and we haven’t won a game yet , thank you to all who made the effort , I’m living in Queensland now and can’t get to games like before , all the people like Read are just jumping on the tail of shit news , watch him change his stance if we keep winning and the crowds are big numbers , he will jump on the NRL needs to do something and get the funds to fix this great ground ,
Nrl $ 20 mill , State Gov $ 10 mill Club $ 5 mill , private sponsor naming rights $ 5 mill 5 years ( Meriton Stadium anyone )

Parking is fine if you know what you’re doing. Amazingly nobody ever seems to bring up parking at Brookvale Oval. And yeah when I used to drive to Moore Park I’d often be stuck in that car park for ages.

Being practical .
The playing surface at LO is ok ,
The atmosphere is great
Getting there and parking is terrible
Comm bank is magnificent but its not ours its Parras and with their Leagues club actually next door I think is a major reason why the Eels have done well lately .Whole thing must have cost hundreds of millions ! Who paid for it ? We can't even get an upgrade at LO or CS
Maybe a naive question but is govt funds reluctance because not sure whether WT here in 5 or 10 years
Is it hard to get there though? There’s a light rail stop 10 minutes walk away and a bus stop even closer. Yeah driving can be tricky if you don’t know what you’re doing. I’ve never had problems getting a park 10 minutes walk away and I’m away and on Victoria Road a few minutes later. You’ve got to avoid Balmain Rd/Darling St

It's always funny walking up those narrow streets to the back of the hill about 1/2 hour till kick off and you see numbskullsl driving through the crowd looking for a park. 😅

I like the way the article mentions our terrible record at Leichhardt ie just four wins out of the past 13 games (before last night). We've been going at four out of every 24 over the past two years so actually Leichhardt improves our record.

I love Leichhardt and my point has always been that once something like that has gone it's never coming back - it'll be an apartment tower within a couple of years. So if we're going to give it up it had better be because we have absolutely no choice or because we're absolutely certain what we're going to is a better option. Imagine if we'd lumbered ourselves with playing home games at Parramatta.

Second time you have mentioned the NRL putting money in and the second time I will say they wont do this on an asset they don’t own .. it will be perceived by the other teams as favourtism…
