LIVE GAME Round 3 vs. Sharks

Live Game Discussion
Not much being mentioned of Sezer on the forum... Thought his kicking game was controlled and excellent, was solid in defence as well. Looked like a general out there running the plays. A true halfback, despite his age and time away from the NRL
He is the perfect foil. Just does his job. I actually liked that he tried to take on the line a couple of times to keep the defense guessing. His defense was actually pretty solid apart from a couple of misses. Long it may continue so to ease the pressure of Api.

Ive read heaps of people praising the way he played.
Benji fcked up royal not using him last week. The difference he made was very noticeable.
We havent had a halfback play like that very often in the past 12 years.

I think we have wasted $1.2m per year on Luai.
gotta remember we beat penrith and then beat cowboys by 50 last year and came last still. It's consistency we're after. We still probably need another big forward once Klemmer moves on to be a top 8 chance. Definitely overpaid for Luai, but we had no choice and there's no guarantee Sezer will be great next year like he was last night, as well as Fainu/Galvin being a young success immediately

I wasnt able to watch the game live.I just watched the replay and read through the comments here

My 2 cents worth, while Api played very well there were a couple of uncharacteristic poor passs from the ruck so still some room for improvement even from him.
I was critical of Seyfath last week, but his turn around was excellent. A couple.of his late offloads were top shelf. If he contines to improve he could be a good depth player

Although Sezer kicked well, he hit he player.more times thannot. I think he has the ability and self.awareness to improve his game there.

Staines has had a slow start
He was woeful last week and improved significantly. He needs to improve further if he wants to lock down that spot. I haven't had a chance to see how Lobb went in ressies, but, his height could be utilised more than Staines pace at the moment.

It was a great win, but I doubt Parra will play as bad as Cronilla next week. Benji definitely has us on the right track, and I expect that win will instill some much needed confidence. Replicate the effort against Parra and really stick it to Moses and we are in with a good chance next Monday.

Overall we aren't doing too bad to start the season. If you take out the start against Canberra, where we were out on our feet after having no ball for the first quarter of the game, the other 3/4 of the game we were in the grind even though our execution in attack was pretty uncoordinated.

I think Api summed it up in the post match when he said it was good to see that what is being done at training is being replicated on the field.

What I noted that was really heartening was that two of the tries were set plays that they executed a couple of times - the kick for Faataape to ICE and the shape deep pass short try from Api to Seyfath. They almost pulled it off again in the second half but Api went deep. Teams can do what they like to combat it- compress and Api will go deep, play for the runner and he hits short. We will see more of that.

The other aspect that was pleasing, although not well executed, is the short kicking game. A bit more experience for Galvin and the odd good bounce for Sezer and we now have another useful club in the bag.

With Latu also back in the frame after his return from injury there is some depth developing.

New coach, new team, new song, youth and good leadership. Early days yet but the indications are that we have finally turned the corner!

It was a great win for the team .. they finally played to Benji's game plan .. Bateman get in Hynes face .. Faataape get on Talakai's as soon as he gets the ball / stop him from running early as possible .. Galvin play what you see in front of you dont be afraid to run the ball ..
Team .. if we make a line break .. swing the ball back across the field to other side as early as possible .. stretch their line of defence. The Gummies had nothing to worry us .. they looked totally bamboozled. Well done Tigers.

Whole team played well ..
Api .. backed to his best
Tupou .. came awake and was destructive
Staines .. love to see him in the open
Olam and Faataape .. best centres effort in years
Bula .. getting better and better .. what can he become in the years to come
Galvin .. that effort should give him the confidence to step up again
Sezer .. controlled the game brilliantly
Bateman and Api .. solid and brilliant
Klem and Stef .. laid the platform from the first hitup
Pole .. solid and strong .. love his hitups ..
Seyfarth .. played strong when on
Fainu .. wow this kid impresses me game after game cant wait to see more
Twal .. did what he could till he took a knock
Bud .. limited time on field but followed Benji's instructions when on

Like someone else mentioned .. will be interesting once Latu Fainu is fit and read .. what will happen to Sullivan .. ??

Wonder what Benji's game plan will be against the Slimy's next weekend .. ??
