Climate Change

Disagreeing with political responses to climate change is one thing.

But to pretend it's not happening at all is signing Cameron Ciraldo as coach level of stupidity.

In fact the rate of heating is accelerating so fast the the 'alarmist' (in reality extremely conservative) IPCC scientists aren't keeping up:

Unfortunately yes I think so, what many people don't realise is the massive lag - the heating we see now is from emissions many years ago. And as global emissions have only increased since then, further warming is locked in that I think will easily see us lock in tipping points and feedback loops. Especially the loss of albedo from ice loss, and methane release from the Arctic and Siberian tundra. Talking about 1.5 or 2 is a joke IMO, we will smash through that.
Ah religion , don't you love it?

Are you a Pom Buttface .
Nothing at all wrong with being a Pom though as my ancestors were English and Danish, and you come out with some lovely old-fashioned English words.

A very controversial word is 'jipped' according to Copilot.
Yeh, the buggers are only giving us 1/2 a block of cheese instead of a full block.
And what do they do with the bits they cut out, the same as a doughnut, what do with all those bits in the middle that were there before we buy em???
Full blood Ozy.
but yeah, Pom, Irish and French heritage, not that that matters as I have no connection to them at all. Just an Ozy.
I grew up with adults, Nan, Pop, Uncles, Aunts, so got an old vocab at times. Mrs BF has mentioned it a few times. She reckons I was the only person she ever heard say the word “minion”, now it’s a movie.
I don’t know where they are hiding those donut holes but we need an investigation.
The cheese holes though, Mrs BF was telling me that something like little wheat particles or something fall into the cheese mix on the farm and that’s what makes the holes. 🤷‍♂️. I’m a city boy, the only thing I know about farming is brown cows give you chocolate milk.

Sorry mate as much as I love your input to the forum, climate change is a money grab by the dumbasses we vote into power...
WE elect our govt to look after our country and citizens not treat us as inferior sheep led by wolves in sheeps clothing...
Question, why do we have ,homeless people who have been put on the streets because they followed Govt mandates, lost their jobs, lost their relationships and most of all their dignity following the tyranicle garbage spewed out by the very people we elected to help us,but instead climb over those very people to give billions to foreign countries who have no ties to us such as the Ukraine and Israel..
Answer, the kick backs they get are far more important than their very own communities and people..do some research and you will find that the GOVERNMENT WORKS FOR US,WE PAY THEIR WAGES TO LOOK AFTER OUR COUNTRY AND THE CITIZENS,not be stood over with their garbage "trust the science etc"...We as the people of this country have every right to sack all those in power if they dont abide by the constitution of the people for the people...Trouble is everyone is to ready to comply with their cooked up garbage....
I for one and I dont care if I do it myself WILL NOT COMPLY ANYMORE ..Ive HAD A GUTFUL OF PAYING,PAYING AND MORE PAYING to find myself in a worse position after working 48 years and not getting ahead because I have to keep paying the Govt for screwing me over and over and over year after year...
A great post TrueTiger, with lots of genuine heartfelt, non-aggressive, non-threatening feelings and thoughts, and I respect that, even though I don't agree with some of it.

Gees I appreciate your posts Buttface.
You're a bloody good storyteller, love the humor.
We need your input here for a LOOOOOOONG time.
I hope the Tigers get up for Yuh on Sunday :).

climate change is a money grab by the dumbasses we vote into power.
This is a slogan often repeated, but how about you actually think it through? If a government was really just interested in a 'money grab' they would be approving as many coal mines as possible and upping royalties on them. Likewise they would be opening up as many gas and oil fields as possible, and taxing the shit out of them.
Fossil fuel companies are right up there with the biggest companies on earth, and many of them are state-owned. Saudi Aramco vies with Apple and Microsoft as the world's wealthiest company.

If you wanted to cash grab with a hoax, you'd be supporting these behemoths, not opposing them.

Maybe it's more of a power grab now.
But with power comes money.
Seems the 'thing' now is to go green and hate on mining and fossil fuels.
Governments go with the votes to keep (or get into) power... even if they might not completely agree with what they're spruiking.

Governments don't need a vast global hoax incorporating thousands of scientists and masses of fraudulent data to grab power, or to raise taxes, they just do it.
When Labor's in, they just say "we need to raise this tax, or introduce this policy, to fix the Liberals' mess"
When the Liberals are in, they just say "we need to raise this tax, or introduce this policy, to fix the Labor mess"

Moreover, politicians are simply too dumb and incompetent to manage such a vast global hoax.

The simpler explanation is that greenhouse gases do, in fact, trap heat; and as a result, temperatures are, in fact, rising and ice extent is receding.

I wasn't saying governments are in on a vast global hoax.
What i was saying is they pander to whatever they think the voters want to hear to buy their votes.
Whether global warming is a hoax or not doesn't really matter as long as their 'supposed' action on it gets them votes from the masses who believe it's not.

Agreed, politician are rubbish, and when they're not doing favours for their largest donors they are generally just saying what voters want to hear. This is true of almost all issues.

For me the more important question on climate change is not 'are politicians cynical and useless?' (they are) but rather 'is it happening?' (yes), 'at what rate is it happening?' (accelerating), and 'what are implications?'

That is far too much logic for the people in the red tin foil hats to understand

The fossil fuel companies know climate change is proven beyond scientific doubt and that their time is up.

Any debate around climate change being real, wind turbines killing birds, Australia adopting nuclear and so on is just a PR campaign to confuse people and buy a few more years of operation for coal mines and coal power plants.

I say this as someone from a migrant family that moved here to work in coal mining and was put through school thanks to mining profits!

Out walking The Fonz this morning, strutting with my Luai signed members hat on and another bloke walks past and says “I hope the Tigers win, and I’m a dragons fan, you guys are playing good footy.”.
I reckon he’s trying to jinx us into to loosing, so I said I hope we win to and I am not a dragons fan. And then with my fingers crossed I touched the wood of the nearest tree. Not that I’m superstitious at all. 🤞🍀🧧

Isn't the government still selling our terrible coal and uranium? China is building two coal power stations a week plus nuclear ones as well. Way to go Australia.

100%

One if the meetings I was in yesterday was a company investment 1Billion in AI across their suite of services.

Some minuscule areas of life that will touch each of even without us knowing.
Wow...tell us more Spartan, like who do you work for, what sort of business is it, and did you vote against the implementation.
BIG BROTHER is becoming more real each and every day, in every way, by the sound of things.
It looks to me George Orwell may have only been out by 100 years, not 1984 but 2084 or close to it.
My best days are nearly over 117 and I'm not sorry about that, as life has been mostly a bucket of :poop: anyway.
But I will still keep doing my tiny little bit to be kind to our Planet Earth in any way I can to slow down Climate change.
Composting our food scraps etc. is a really good thing to do for our planet earth.
And one of the most important ingredients in my compost bin would be the finely ground ashes of Donald Trump :devilish:.

Greenhouse gases trap heat.

8 billion humans are transferring greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, at a furious pace.

The result is quite clear. Temperature rise is increasingly non-linear, ice loss is accelerating and consequent reduction in albedo only further accelerates warming.

As people say TL...we learn something new every day, and in my case it's the word Albedo, never heard it before.
So, I looked it up on my wonderful AI Copilot oops!!! and got an immediate answer.
AI...wonderful today...scary tomorrow.

What the bloody hell is China doing cbh...they've quadrupled their coal generated power in 4 years, and if Aust. is a major supplier of that coal, we damn well shouldn't be.
Our politicians are very naughty boys, and Scomo is the naughtiest of the whole lot by brandishing that lump of coal in Parlt. only a few years ago and telling us "not to be afraid of it".

Yeah so in this case I particularly mean as darker colours absorb heat and lighter reflect it (e.g. that's why it is silly to have a black roof in a hot climate), the melting of ice means there's less white and more dark blue, which increases warming, which leads to less ice, which leads to more warming, and so on and so an. So it only needs a moderate amount of 'human' warming to set in motion almost irreversible feedback loops that cause much greater warming.

Agree on AI!
