Jayden "Bud" Sullivan #278

And u all thought brooks was bad, well bud has surpassed him already, he has done nothing during his game time , he had pace , but he won’t take the line on , I think he’s a waste of money , will see if he has any balls against his old club

At training Bud looks like a superstar .. dummies, darts, hits line well, sidesteps well, plenty of speed off the mark .. he makes line breaks at every session .. BUT come game day out there on the paddock nothing .. gun shy .. ?? .. i dont get it .. he's got demons in his head for sure .. !! pity .. !!

I really hope he has a blinder this weekend and proves us all wrong .. (y) (y)

Reckon there's a few factors at play for young Bud, new environment, being converted to utility at St George and lacking a bit of confidence after being hooked in the Canberra game. But I reckon him losing weight in the off season has had a fair effect as well.
He's been very hesitant to dig into the line consistently, but I saw some positive signs in his second stint last week, started to take this line on and poke his nose through. The confidence will return he just needs the reps.
If he can play simply this week and take the line on I think he'll go well.

i hope so bro for his and the team sake .. there's no better way to shut the critics up .. than playing well against ya old team .. !!

Milford is actually good though?
Milford is currently the bench player for the fins...

With Bud, I would not want to be in his position. Although maybe he is ok with it.

All eyes were on Fainu and Bud coming in. Both players had 6 and 7 written on them.
Who Performed:
Galvin and Sezer.

Bennett is smartly keeping Milford as that reserve Half for the Dolphins. An injury comes and he has a "good not great" halfback ready to go.

Luai comes here next year, we will have a reserve half ready to go if there are any issues.
His name is Sezer.

I would not want to be in Bud's position, because he ain't a Utility. He is a half, but Fainu/Galvin/Luai clearly seem to be better and Sezer is a decent NRL halfback*.

*I was wrong re Sezer's performance, he is doing a job we have needed for ages. Not wanting to open wounds but he would have been ideal with LB at 5/8.

^ Sezer has been solid and a pleasant surprise. I'd say Milford is much the same: older, very experienced and will do the job when necessary.

And u all thought brooks was bad,

Correct, we did. And he was.

Somehow Bud is even worse.

I certainly wouldn’t be writing off Bud Sullivan just yet as I know his running and creative attacking game is high quality when he’s at his confident best.
He seems to defend ok when opponents run straight at him, but needs to ensure his lateral movement defence is much better and most importantly needs a big improvement in all his effort areas, particularly his cover defence.
I’m highly confident he will be ready to show us his best tomorrow.

Agree with most of what you say but if Sezer stays fit and healthy there will be enough demand out there from clubs that would want to sign him for a season or two as a starting half, so I'm not sure if that was the case that he would stay here as a second string half.

He could definitely end up having some options.

Sezer has been great for us so far, but in with all due respect what other NRL club would he be the starting halfback?
Only possibility would be the Gold Coast, but if Kieran Foran stays on for another season, I think even Des has now worked out they need at least one halve with some pace and attacking flair, hence Jayden Campbell moving 5/8 for them this round.
Bulldogs another club that some have mentioned. In my opinion this season has so far showed Sezer has much more variety to his game than someone like Drew Hutchinson, but the Bulldogs also have some very good young emerging halves. Toby Sexton is an NRL player in my opinion, no idea why he’s stuck behind Hutchinson.

Pretty sure the dogs and drags would be keen.

Would be a good option at somewhere like the Dogs for at least a season while someone is developing.

Don't get me wrong if he keeps going the way he is I wouldn't mind him staying on in some capacity.

We gave Brooks 11 years to prove he was bad for us with all the excuses under the sun that we have been over many times and the club and some forum members kept backing him...Bud has been here for a few weeks from another system different environment, new teammates and coach..he is learning and trying,YET everyone wants him gone before he has a decent chance to show us his worth...Lets be fair and give the guy a few more games before we all stab his future in the back...

Just under a year ago a guy called Jayden Sullivan threatened to kill us off the bench. Our rabble that day had legends Wakeham, Brooks, Nofo, Toa and Talau and we overcame a pretty much similar Dragons squad that we face on Sunday. Notable omissions: Hall of Famer Mbye, Man Mountain Josh Kerr and The Feagal Sharkey twins.

Saints have bolstered their pack with Sele, Lucy & Eisenhuth whilst adding Lomax & Bird into the Feagal positions. I have said all along, my concern is that Sullivan is no Bud Light - he seems overweight on the pro rata Latrell Scale.

If we win not having to play AJ off the bench then, Benji is a Genius twice!
