Jahream Bula #269

Spoke with a mate at the pub about the dogs today he's around the dogs abit

Chatting about someone on here saying Burton off to Parramatta he said no chance at the moment

He said Burton Ciraldo and a football manager at the dogs are all related cousins or whatever I didn't know that till today

But he did mention Kikau mite be getting pushed out all about cap $$$ and the young forwards wanting more

Maybe a few of the young blokes can go win at the pokies like some of the old sharks players use to but it's not recommended to do it in your leagues club
I also heard something about kikau from someone around the doggies.... If we were to swoop, how would we play him given we have KPP and Samuela who are both 80min edge backrowers? All 3 are similar players and I don't think any of them fit into a #13 role. Would it be worth pushing Samuela into the middle rotation and Terrell to 13 in a Gallen type lock role?

Anyone know when Bula linked up with Moses?

Was it before or after the Galvin crap?

If after... surely that's a complete lack of respect to the club who don't really want to deal with him - wouldn't that clearly be saying I'm open to leaving?

Bula has a higher ceiling? Had 50 games in NRL and is about 2m short. Three seasons and still learning...wow. Potential in abundance for season 4. Bula on $900k seems way overs for IMO
Turuva has been judged on 1 game at NRL level.
Showed much more involvement, effort and hunger to get his hands on the ball. Did the dirty hit ups. Chiming into the backline is his potential, given the chance and coaching.
We have some up and comer pathways fullbacks about 2 years away showing that potential for far less $$$
Wingers that can replace Bula's wing spot if required.
Time to manage the cap and not pay overs.

No I think the general rugby league public are now all on notice that Latu could be a superstar in the making.
Latu’s big play against games played ratio would be extremely good at this stage.
I admit it was only a couple of weeks back that I wasn’t convinced he still had enough explosive speed to have the same brilliance that he did as an elite junior and thought that might mean he’s now better suited as a 13.
Last weekend against the Roosters quickly proved that way of thinking to be incorrect.
He’s far from the finished product and needs a lot of focus on areas of his game such as his last play options and kicking game, but we haven’t had a 6 or 7 capable of the individual brilliance that Latu possesses since Benji’s glory days.

I can’t believe you were campaigning to play Latu at 13 ..and it only took 1 game to change your mind … I think another poster here might have been pointing out the error of your ways at the time

Perhaps Bula will do the same next time he plays as well

Not to sure KPP is a walk up starter. No entirely over the moon on him, some doubts on his form.
Kikau yes. A definite starter.

I wouldn’t say I was campaigning to have Latu play at 13, I was simply stating we know he can play as a 13 and play it so well that our attack goes from poor to good with the job he does there.
Previous to the last 2 weeks and not seeing him play in the halves for quite some time, he looked like he had bulked up and might have lost a bit of his zip/explosive speed that made him so lethal as a 5/8 in the juniors.
I was extremely happy to see him show last weekend that he still has plenty of zip and looks a constant danger to the opposition when playing in the halves.
That was a definite 9 out of 10 performance and should only be the tip of the iceberg, you would assume there is plenty of improvement still to come,
As for Jahream, I possibly could change my opinion and see 900k per season value in him if he comes out and gives a 5 star performance sometime soon.
I’ve only seen a 9 or 10 out of 10 performance from him once in the past 18 months, that was against the Cowboys at Leichhardt last season.
Plenty of 7 and 8’s out of 10, but I’m looking for 9’s or 10’s at least 3 or 4 times per season from marquee players.
He’s not on his own as Jerome hasn’t produced a 9 or 10 out of 10 game for us yet either.

Would it be fair to say in the Latu “discussion”… this is an example that you can be a little quick to make judgements at times … particularly with young players playing in an average at best team … I recall your argument at the time was more around his lack of kicking game, and you wanted to replace him with Sexton at 7 who isn’t the quickest of halves either …

Jahream is a bit more up in the air in my mind …although I am still very much of the belief that come 2027 he will be playing at a level justifying his pay… as the back line hopefully improves , he won’t remain as closely watched by the opposition for a start

The best thing that could happen to Jahream over the next few weeks is for Turuva to have a few shockers. If Turuva performs really well then it will be very hard to justify giving Bula 900k. Not because Turuva would be our future fullback, but because you'd be getting a similar output for a player on half the money.

For 900k I'd rather us try and sign Koula from Manly. Younger than Bula, quicker than him, has better ball playing ability, and is currently stuck at centre behind Turbo and Hopoate. I believe he is also close with the Fainus. I remember when he completely tore us up at fullback one game.
