Jahream Bula #269

So you are acknowledging Bula is currently no superstar and currently not worth 900k but you think we should pay it in hope he gets there by 2027 ?
The writing is on the wall, we will give in and pay him 900k, I wouldn’t be surprised if Isaac demands we renegotiate and pay him 900k from 2026 onwards and we agree to it.
That would mean we virtually have no money left in our salary cap other than to retain what we have and maybe add a couple of lower tier top 30 players.
If you think our current roster plus the addition of KPP and a couple of depth players is good enough to see us be be a definition 8 and possible top 4 team than so be it, I cannot see how that will be good enough, time will tell.
Nobody but you EVER used the term "superstar"!!!

And I defy you to suggest Dylan Edwards - Gutho - Hammer - EVEN Reese etc etc etc are actual "SUPERSTARS" who single-handedly win games....

You give stupid people a bad name!

I feel like Turuva would be a gun fullback if given a real opportunity. For that reason, even though I like Bula, I don’t think it would be the end of the world if he leaves. Which seeing as he’s a Moses client, you feel resigned to the fact that it’s a likely outcome.

What pub?

I'll avoid the trogs!
You better get yourself down to the pub, you need a couple of beers.
I’ll simplify it for you, you obviously want your team to make the top 8, top 4, if not win a premiership sometime soon, preferably before you and I are both dead.
Paying over inflated prices and giving into rogue managers demands for players who are decent, but not not genuine match winners, will not allow us to at least be in the fight to recruit a genuine superstar that can help catapult us to where we need to be.
You obviously believe our current roster plus KPP can win us a premiership, good for you, it’s nice to dream, but where’s the evidence to show how and why this will be a reality within the next couple of years ?
Latu Fainu has superstar potential and I agree that Terrell May, Fonua Pole and Sione Fainu are all very good, improving and under rated middles, I’m not swapping them for anyone on their current contract values.
Sam Fainu has been below his best for most of this season, but was back to his best with a bang on Sunday, it’s a possibility he and KPP can become a top class edge back row pairing IF they are at or near their best on a regular basis.
Don’t bank on that happening, they need another quality edge back rower to provide genuine competition for their starting position.
Our outside backs make good yardage, but lack the speed and class of nearly every other NRL club and they are suspect as a unit defensively.
That’s not enough to be a genuine finals team or challenge for a premiership anytime soon and you know it.

If anyone seriously rates those in italics above Bula on the basis of consistent form - you clearly don't watch full games or understand football!
Which reinforces what I said that Tigers fans overrate their own, to be fair, it's not just Tigers fans, I'm sure the same conversation is happening on the Canberra forum about Weekes or the Parramatta forum about Ionghi. Search other forums or the net in general, and I seriously doubt you will see Bula's name on any list of the best fullbacks. He will most likely improve, although there is also the chance he won't. Clubs that overpay on potential often get stung. With a heap tied up in Luai and Api's new extension, we can't reall afford to pay on the hope he might be better in a few years.

We have cap space and spots for 2026 fool!

Fullback is not our critical recrutiment option for next year - and I am sure we are targeting the right recruits where our depth is thin!

PS: Check NRL360 tonight - with Andrew Webster advising that Moses called him to specifically debunk the reports that Bula is being shopped... the report was bullshit and against his players intentions.

Thank god for that.
So we will give him his 900k and we can expect Wests Tigers will make the top 4 in 2026.
I’m holding you accountable when it doesn’t happen.

Wrong - I call a spade a spade based on 40+ years of experience and critical observation!

I never rated Nofa - Doueihi - Laurie - etc etc.

Bula is a natural athlete and footballer despite his time away from the game - and I have rated his as our best fullback since Hodgson ever since his debut!

You are a poor analyst - and both his coaching staff + teammates would agree with me in a heartbeat!

Real rugby league people understand and appreciate him far more than social media nuffies!
