Probably. Im not really referring to the exams, more so the GPS rugby side of it. Experiences with school mates. Theres no going back once it's done.Didn't Chris Lawrence juggle his exams with his NRL debut.

You don't think there is significant improvement in his defensive positioning? The bloke is 20 games into his career, enjoys the contact and offers quality yardage carries. I'd also assume he is on a relatively modest wage.and drops bombs along with being out of position in defence.
Yes expendable
1989 Grand final his first year. Played centre.Brasher was still at school and was 17 when he played 1st grade and never looked back , didn’t he play in a grandfinal in his 1st year ?
Montoya is not better then Skelton imoand drops bombs along with being out of position in defence.

If you asked me which one you would rather run at I'm sure you'd know my answer 🙂 Olam didn't work out but I have a lot of faith in Skeletor. At 26 we are seeing his best years too.that is facts
we’ve got him on big unders tooIf you asked me which one you would rather run at I'm sure you'd know my answer 🙂 Olam didn't work out but I have a lot of faith in Skeletor. At 26 we are seeing his best years too.
yeah bro he was happy to get a starting spotwe’ve got him on big unders too
Brasher had already turned 18, and yes he was still at school (but in his second year of Year 12 in 1989 when he debuted). Was in Aust Schoolboys in 1988Brasher was still at school and was 17 when he played 1st grade and never looked back , didn’t he play in a grandfinal in his 1st year ?
I haven't watched enough of Makasini to really comment much on his play but most his footy has been as rugby centre has it not? He should be proficient on both sides of the field if this is the case with Rugby being inside/outside rather than left/right.Big Mak has actually been more impressive than I thought he would be so soon playing NSW Cup.
Our dilemma and we certainly love a dilemma here at Wests Tigers, with the emergence of Taylan May at his preferred left centre position and with Makasini also having a strong preference in playing left centre, how do we plan to best fit them both into our NRL team ?
When playing NSW Cup in the same team Makasini moved to right centre and seemed to do ok, but certainly didn’t look as comfortable as he generally does on the left.
Do we start Makasini off in his NRL career as a left winger outside of Taylan May ?
Do we possibly move Skelton to the right wing with Turuva at right centre ?
Or do we try Skelton at right centre ?
I know we are in no great hurry, but it does seem inevitable that Makasini will make his NRL debut soon, so the above questions would have to start being discussed .
Not sure about this year, but previously for school and the rep rugby was left wing.I haven't watched enough of Makasini to really comment much on his play but most his footy has been as rugby centre has it not? Has he got any attributes that suggests he is particularly suited to the left or is that just the position he has been thrown into at the moment?
passing on both sides that could determine where he is most comfortable, but if you have a footy in your hand 5 days a week, you should really be able to pass up to 5m on both sides accurately.I haven't watched enough of Makasini to really comment much on his play but most his footy has been as rugby centre has it not? For whatever reason most who play on an edge have a preference for playing on the left.passing on both sides that could determine where he is most comfortable, but if you have a footy in your hand 5 days a week, you should really be able to pass up to 5m on both sides accurately.
Then there's your ball carrying arm. If you're right handed you probably prefer to be on the right to keep the ball away from defenders sliding across and palm with your left.
If you watch closely, most players will favour one over the other.
I've seen him play on the left, so he may be left handed.
He's playing with one arm! If Big Mac is ready, he might be able to give Toa the rest he desperately needs. The Taylan May and Jeral Skelton combination looks like it could be a good one, but unless To’a starts firing, it might be in our best interests to debut Makasini this season.
If thatt happens we would not be moving Taylan from the left centre position he excels in, so I was just thinking out loud that Makasini could debut on the left wing which would possibly mean moving Skelton to the right as a winger or maybe even right centre.
If To’a comes good and everyone stays fit to play, Makasini’s debut would then likely be delayed until next year.
His right arm fend , and he explodes through holes on the left . Defensively it appears he’s much more at ease on the left . IMO he’s a winger at the moment and will most likely debut there .I haven't watched enough of Makasini to really comment much on his play but most his footy has been as rugby centre has it not? Had long blonde hair on the wing vs the broncos right? He was fast back then... Hard to believe he became a backrower.Didn't Chris Lawrence juggle his exams with his NRL debut.
Having his leg almost ripped off helped.Had long blonde hair on the wing vs the broncos right? He was fast back then... Hard to believe he became a backrower.
I do get a chuckle about all this.
Wests fans are so desperate for a win-fix they’ll tip the crèche out in search of a new messiah.
Compare it to a club like Melbourne and how slowly they brought young tyro Jack Howarth through their system. When he finally hit the NRL he was already performing like a seasoned pro.
I’d leave Makasini in NSW Cup for the remainder of the season.
Not really. He dislocated his hip and lost all his speed. Benji called him the best hole runner he ever played with.Had long blonde hair on the wing vs the broncos right? He was fast back then... Hard to believe he became a backrower.
He was going to be a great centre until that injury.Having his leg almost ripped off helped.
He wasn’t much of a backrower, but always had a go.
