It was more his actions that torpedoed the season at that point in time.

By what measure? Our position on the ladder hasn't changed. Our winning percentage has barely changed. Much of the complaints about performance, both individuals and team, hasn't changed.no ,we were travelling ok, until wonder boy got his name on the front and back page on the same days s s s s
The defensive line speed between both teams really stood out for me. Penrith were rushing up cutting our time with the ball in hhandy getting straight in our faces. We on the other hand were so passive we just stayed back waiting for the Panthers players to run at us before we engaged them. The 3 biggest issues we have are our long kicking game, our speed and intensity in attack and defence and our forward impact.
In games where we play with some speed and are getting metres, we look a threat to score. Anyone that has played the game before knows it's a lot harder to break the line when the defence is set and in position.
To sum it up, it's pressure on both sides of the ball and pressure is built by cutting their time to make decisions in attack and defence.
Add our long kicks go straight to the fullback 20m out and they get the first tackle on the 20 or 30 most sets, we lose the field position.
Penrith put on a clinic in how to soak up the first 3 tackles within our 20 by pinning us in the corners on every set and backed it up with line speed in defence. They didn't give us anything all game. As Benji said, they strangled us.
4 wins from 7 ,and two of our loses were by 2 pts. AND we were playing way better as a team with sting in our tailsBy what measure? Our position on the ladder hasn't changed. Our winning percentage has barely changed. Much of the complaints about performance, both individuals and team, hasn't changed.
How do you figure we were travelling okay at the time?
Demps hit Richo up on X. Let's see if you can go 2 from 2.He'd be the best 13 we've had since Elijah Taylor
Wonder what other clubs would be interested or have the cash / position available?
jock madden is just reserve grade depth , they’ll be more active in the player market but there just isn’t much out there atmI'm interested in our . recruits for 2026, Kai Pearce-Paul and the returning Jock Madden.
Am I the only one unimpressed? I carefully watched KPP in the Raiders-Knights game.
He was ok, nothing special. Scored a try by catching and planting the ball with the line open. Took some carries without bending the line. Did his share of tackling. But he's not the guy to turn our underwhelming forward pack around.
We'll still have the 2025 recruits, Hunt and Bird. Hunt was dropped early season and looks like not being called back up. Bird has remained in first grade without impressing. And we'll still have Twal, Seyfarth, Sukkar and Murray, none of whom stand out, while Pole's performances fluctuate.
Jock's return puzzles me. Is he coming to replace Sullivan, who will still be under our salary cap for 2 years whether he returns or not? Or as plan B should Luai activate his escape clause, or if Latu doesn't measure up?
I'm worried that 2025's small improvements will stagnate.
After 7 rounds those numbers would seem close enough to right (can't be bothered checking to confirm).gregim ,i only guessed those numbers ,shoot me down if you will , but i wont depart from the comment we where playing like a team in the early(7) rounds
Fair point. But he also has landed some good players. Since Richo has come in I think the super dud impulse signings have mostly stopped too. Not sure I’d blame Benji for the Matamua, Feledy, Tumeth signings which I would argue are our worst top 30 deals.Benji created this roster.
I don’t know why some of you choose to ignore this fact.
No you are not the only one unimpressed. Most the forum seem unimpressed.I'm interested in our . recruits for 2026, Kai Pearce-Paul and the returning Jock Madden.

I think our top 17 can compete with most teams, but I think the top 30 is miserably out of shape. About half a dozen guys who have never been called upon because they simply aren’t up to standard.Yet many claim it’s the worst in the comp.
all good .Totally off track , Q for google ,apart from Cronulla ,St G, have we beat a team above usAfter 7 rounds those numbers would seem close enough to right (can't be bothered checking to confirm).
I personally though don't think we were playing any more or less as a team then than now, but to each their own.
A couple of those wins (and narrow losses) in my opinion were luck of the draw coming up against other teams in the spoon race and at a low point for them. Many of the sides deficiencies commented on then, even in victory, are exactly the same ones being commented on now.
Not trying to change your opinion mate, simply stating mine.
Phins, but it was a part of their 0 and 4 start after they had the hurricane at the start of the year.all good .Totally off track , Q for google ,apart from Cronulla ,St G, have we beat a team above us

Phingers crossed the Dolphins make 2nd wk of semi'sPhins, but it was a part of their 0 and 4 start after they had the hurricane at the start of the year.
We need a workhorse forward, that is for sure.I’ve heard a whisper that Ray Stone is looking for a move back to Sydney and it could be for 2026.
If true we have to make a play for him for his aggressive defence alone.
... Aren't the Phin's the Dolphins?Phingers crossed the Dolphins make 2nd wk of semi's
Our forward pack? ... Really?Roosters are not the the pack they used to be.
For intimidation- they are way better.
But skills? I don't think they are any better overall than we are.
