Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

💯 correct, but these types of players are becoming very rare.
I think someone said the other day we had one of the worst packs in the NRL.

I disagree.

But, we have the pack least likely to try & smack teams around.

It's not a skillset we miss, but attitude. And 2-3 guys in the middle can change it. In fact, if we had 2 guys leading the charge, I believe Royce Hunt could be the third guy.

There are not many JWH's in the game. But there are several Sam McIntyre's. (Just an example). Nearly all teams have a guy or two that go looking for collisions.

We miss that.

Probably lacked it since Daine Laurie (the forward) and a fired up Russel Packer

We had a past his prime Klemmer, who no one fears.

I think Samuela could become the type.
But yeah, another "hitter" type would be great.

That's why I'd like a Ray Stone or Kurt D[unlikely) at 13... a type who has some ball playing but hits like a mack truck, from any angle.

I'm not suggesting that he's the answer, but from what I've seen of him, I do wonder if Kit Lualili'i might ACTUALLY have the mentality we need.

There are holes in his game, but he plays at 125% energy.

Kit has improved his ball running this season, but I’m yet to see him hit hard in defence and that’s what he needs to do if he is to become a regular NRL player.
Taateo looks a more aggressive type in attack and defence and that’s what makes him an interesting prospect.

I'm a big fan of the Lualilii brothers.

It's an interesting statement.
Both lads seen like "nice guys." To me.

I saw Luke @ the boxing a few weeks back and he isn't as small as you'd think but he does come across as a shy, quiet, type and Kitt is much the same, imo.

The energy might be there but I think they lack the mongrel aspect... I could be wrong though but a fired up Kitt coming off the bench and flooring everyone and anyone in front of him, is something I'd love to see.

Hard calls but the right ones.
Pull the band aid off.

I've never really liked Starford and his actions off field of late have kinda implied he doesn't want to be here either.

Ideally, I'd love us to land Faalogo to play #1 and Bula moves to centre / back up fullback like Garrick.

A 13 in the mould of Josh Curran, Ray Stone or Kurt D [sadly locked up for 2 more seasons]

If Sione Finau is available, he's the one I want on the wing. He's going to be great.
We just need some hardnosed experienced forwards who don't back down.
We add aggressive forwards and other teams just to focus on them and other backs get more room.

Players like Josh Kerr, Tyson Frizell, Daine Gagai, Jack Hetherington, etc..

Players like Sayfarth, Sukker, Bird - These guys are 18-30 players and cover injuries..

Surly Richo and Benji know this..

Some very interesting posts as I think most of us agree it’s not necessarily any of our forwards who individually let us down, but as a collective we have our balance all wrong with too many passive types of forwards and not enough aggression and impact.
In addition to this I think it’s getting more evident that starting Api is tiring him out, leaving him prone to missing tackles and reducing his ability to be effective in attack.
Ideally we need a hard hitting number 9 for the first 20 minutes and capable of playing another position such as 13 for a possible 2nd stint.

I'm not convinced they know anything

Taateo looks good but then you look at the forwards who can't even get a run in NSW cup regularly at other clubs and you realise we are really just blinded by mediocrity.

Out of interest ..who do you have as a worse pack ? And there are several you say ?When I was at the Titans game ..I was looking at their pack and they seemed much better, bigger and more physical than ours .. Big Tino, Campbell Gillard , Fotuiaka, even Fifita would walk into our pack though I don’t particularly rate him

Forward packs I think we are better than?

Remembering that I'm disclosing that we lack that intimidation factor, based on ability, I'd probably have our pack ahead of Souths, Parra, Knights, Dragons, Roosters & Sea Eagles.

That's on skills & talent.

But there are players from each club that I would add to our pack. Just as I'm sure they would take a handful of ours.

Don't get me wrong - I absolutely think our coaching needs to improve. But for those saying Benji needs to go - how many sides in the comp do you think we really have a better roster then? I do honestly think our position on the ladder is very close to the strength of our roster.

I also think Benji is our best bet to sign good players, hence why I think he should stick around for at least the first half of next season.

Haha .,I mean I could make a case for all of them …but the Roosters ?

I remember the game last year against them .boys v men

You gotta be trolling me …

Roosters are not the the pack they used to be.

For intimidation- they are way better.

But skills? I don't think they are any better overall than we are.

Benji created this roster.
I don’t know why some of you choose to ignore this fact.
