In the context of my previous posts, the point was in our system, we had him for 4 years and weren't able to get him up to an acceptable level of defence and sort his issues under the high ball.
Melbourne have been taking raw talent for years and turning them into brilliant first graders. What works for Melbourne wasn't going to work for us because we didn't have the structures in place. 4 years is a long time to work on a player and we didn't produce a result. They did it in a season.
I wish we could do what Melbourne does with players, but we have a history of not being able to do that.
