Adam Doueihi #227

No brainer to re-sign him.

He could end up a good 13. He can play winning footy in the halves. He can fill in at any backline position and he's a great fit for the 14. Most importantly he's stayed injury free this year.

Truthfully, I was critical about him earlier in the year as he was average in the centres, but he's been our best half each time he's played there. He's slowly getting his pace back so with one more injury free offseason, there's every chance he continues to improve as a player.
Was it the game we lost against Parramatta where Doueihi was selected in the halves and people on here said he should never play in the halves ever again or was that another game I am thinking of?

I guess the main point being his lack of consistency.

Very confused about Douehi. He has a unique set of skills especially with kicking that no one else in our team possesses. Did Luai take even one long kick yesterday?

There is so much he does wrong IMO. He didn't get to dummy half yesterday on Tackle 1 and we got very luck with the call. He doesn't seem to help with kick chases when he was at lock, he doesn't consistently do a good kick pressure either.

I love having someone this skillful in our side but as a senior player, he doesn't do the little things right which frustrates me.

All that being said, we are 8 wins this year and without him we'd be at 5 wins max..

I'm ok to lose Douehi, but we need to replace him with someone who is more skilful and versatile. J Campbell is the only one that comes to mind who's looking to change clubs.

Luai is more valuable leading the kick chase than kicking from our half...that was key for us yesterday, we needed to shut them down and take away their time and space. Attacking kicks than my preference is Luai.

AD has strung together some good performances however people are missing the point. Injury is the reason he’s on a one year deal. He played poorly in the halves earlier and was solid not spectacular at centre. I would resign him however, team has to judge if Latu will be dominant after a full offseason as halfback.

I don’t think he’s been healthy since coming here which clouds his performances. I like AD as lock with another 6kgs on his frame. He can play half type role from 13 and he’s a big lad.

Agree, if he can play like he did yesterday consistently for the rest of the season then give him a year, but I hope he hasn't forgotten how we looked after him through a lot of lost time with injuries and some of that on some pretty big money at the time, still not happy with the Moses connection whether he's his agent or part time adviser, it smells really bad either way.

Have to agree that last night he looked like a real leader and anyone that didn't know otherwise could have been forgiven for thinking that he was our captain.
Yeah if that was your first game NRL you would be forgiven for thinking Doobs was a gun. But his two big breaks fell into his lap with the line wide open. Still good players make their own luck and he did play well yesterday.
But I am finding hard to forget all the bad games, games where he shirked it, missed tackles, blamed others, demands to play 6 in reggies, and my personal favourite is when he hogs it and makes an error, and fains and injury or cramp. But if Tyson Gamble calls him out on his fakery, Doobs is suddenly bouncing on those cramping calves looking to pull on the collar of poor old Tyson’s jersey like some tough guy.
Sorry, I can forgive, but I cannot forget, and to be forgiven, he needs to pay us back with more consistent good games, without asking for a pay rise or extra years or signing with Isuk, or trying to play us against other clubs.
A few good games just does not cut it.
I hope he stays with us on what we offer and he redeems himself with consistent quality football to earn an upgrade. I just hope Richo and Benji are not blinded by a few games.

True but then the defence will be storming in on Douehi if they know he's doing all the kicking.

The kick chase should be led by 2nd row and centre. Also Douehi is a R side kicker so much of his kicks will go down our R side anyway.

Luais short kicking is very good though

The salary cap is 12m. 450k is just over 1/30th of it. For a guy who can play several positions at a fringe first grade level, offers utility value and could end up good at 13, which is now a key position, it's fine.

We gave Jack Bird 450k a year for 2 years. What is better than Doueihi at?

Wouldn't surprise me if Benji has a word in Richo's ear re AD's future early this week. We have won 8 games to date this year and AD has been instrumental in winning us 3 of those games. Benji' s future is dependent on one thing...winning. I'm sure Benji would feel more secure in his role if Adam is retained. If Benji can convince Richo to squeeze out another $50K- $75K per season to keep AD then it may just allow Benji to sleep a bit more soundly at night.

Douehi is mentally tough and that is something we desperately need with our young squad. We need to keep him.

Also, you can’t evaluate him off the back of previous years as he was always with players that weren’t up to it.

I always really rated him as a young rugby fly half.
Just wanted to add...no more than 800k for 2 years though. We need to keep Bula and we need funds for some of the younger players coming through flegg.
