HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Look under no circumstances do i want wests tigers to merge, It would absolutely hurt, and if I lived in sydney it would be the worst day of my life, but since i live in bris if it came between easts and wests tigers run by HBG then id take easts, just so i can go too all the home games, and i know they could be successful and will still be financially stable
all about you is it denny. Can see merit in that line of thought

Richo from the 40.00 mark talking about boards - Maybe HBG should have listened to this before hiring the bloke - fools

Hey PPM, have you seen your name and emblem recently?
Could be a case of the pot calling the kettle black [and white of course].
It’s just a username and is irrelevant to 2025, you don't know the story behind my user name so don't perceive to know and certainly don't use it to score brownie points.

And I'm not the one who does a Fonze 'can't say wrong' when it comes to using the name Wests Tigers.

Yea fair enough . I got sucked into that a couple days ago . When I could rationalise my love of the tigers . They try and use your love as wests tigers as a gotcha moment . “Well if you love the wests tigers why won’t you love the wests magpies “ ha gotcha “ because you really love Balmain” . It’s such a bullshit argument . Because you wouldn’t follow the magpies because the disregard for any lover of wests tigers . I don’t even like using the word Balmain , it’s soo irrelevant .

100%

Tea or Coffee? No thanks!

My term for it is 'WT Native'. Like a whole nearly 30 years of people who don't care about either club and don't get a say. But in the eyes of our owners, there is no distinction. They would rather rule a rabble, than let people experience what fans of a big club should get to have. They can burn in hell.

Magpies fans would rather pine for the days of Paul Langmack than when WT had Gareth Ellis and Lote Tuquiri and Chris Lawrence in a first grade side. Like the JV, when left to do its thing, is a far superior product than what came from either club before. 1989 Balmain didn't win a comp.

They appear to be quite good at that side of business, but as for footy it doesn't suit their palette, in fact it's leaving a sour taste for all Tigers supporters.
I am a member at wests ashfield and i think they are actually quite incompetent. If you removed the pokies from the equation the rest of the place is very ordinary, more atmosphere and quality food and benverage at the local pub.

The Fanatics are rising are they? I hope wherever they are rallying has ramp access.

It’s the reckoning bound to happen since Balmain went bust.

It’s like Jake Lamotta trying to cash in by ripping out the jewels from his championship belt without realizing that the belt was worth more intact.

I could understand if WT was a joke. But we are a bit less than that. As in when the factional bullishit goes out the window…. It can be incredible.

Sadly, there's also the infamous:

1975. Western Suburbs are sensationally docked the competition point they earned for a draw against Canterbury after second-rower Mick Liubinskas is deemed an unauthorised replacement. The lost point costs the Magpies a place in the finals.
It did. We finished equal fifth with Parramatta & Balmain. We lost a Tuesday play off to the Eels, who then knocked out Balmain on the Thursday before remarkably beating Canterbury on the weekend. The Eels run ended the following week (they clearly couldn’t hack the seven day lay off 🤣🤣🤣)

One of them threatened Steve with physical violence earlier in the week.

I was just chatting with ink and was saying that they have tried to intimidate me to stop me going to lidcombe in the past. Had guys come up and start abusing me at lidcombe.

I still go but can't take my daughter to games there as it isn't a safe or pleasant environment for her.
Just shows how low they will go. Oxygen thieves of the highest order.

Disgraceful mate…seems the way of the world at the moment ,,,civil debates do not seem to exist anymore …

You and Steve keep safe ..

thought it was bland , and a good straight bat from a ceo , please nobody bite my head off lol.
Think there is more devil in the (non disclosed) detail why they pulled it
I thought it was a very stock standard statement.
I’d say it was pulled because he mentioned Richo had their full support. Given developments that followed re’ the integrity unit investigation, HBG are sensibly watering down that position until more is known.

So lets break this down a bit using what is out there so far:

HBG among other things publicly stated there was a lack of communication from the WT Board and some crucial decisions were made without HBG knowing about them including the the stadium strategy. This was embarrassing for HBG. - What's more embarrassing is having two members on the WT Board one of those being Chairman of the HBG board and claiming you didn't know what was happening. Further to this as has been proven on here it was public knowledge about what was being sought by the WT Board months beforehand.

An anonymous whistleblower has suddenly put in a complaint about Shane Richardson and some of his dealings particularly around the use of family members in certain areas where it is alleged they may be getting paid more or unfairly favoured. - This complaint is fine. The timing of it is what stinks. It has been reported the HBG felt he was sailing close to the wind. Is there anything wrong with that? If I'm doing 60km/h in a 60 zone then that is sailing close to the wind, it's not crossing the line and it's not illegal. It's also been reported Richo doesn't believe he has done anything wrong or concerned in any way and HBG after sacking the four Independents stated Richo had their full support.

HBG sacks the Chairman and three Independent directors for the reasons listed in the opening paragraph. - Amazingly, these four were the only ones who were responsible for anything HBG didn't like. Particularly it would seem planning for the future and turning the club around to face it in the right direction again. You would have to assume given what has transpired it must have been a voting block, which goes only two ways, either they were right as the club has shown through 2025 to be trending in the right direction or they weren't Independent which I guess if your claiming that would start to venture into legal territory. If allegedly (as has been reported) Richo and BOF were doing their own thing, then what has that got to do with the three other Independents? Why would they be sacked?

None of this makes any sense, not as a collective. If any of these things are true and I'm sure there will be some truth to some of it, then it should have been dealt with along the way, not just had a bomb put under it all at once. To me it's just further proof HBG are so far out of their depth it isn't funny. There should be no surprises I guess when you look at the governance of their own board and I hope the NRL do step in and take over. It's currently like having a relative that is no longer fit to look after themselves, someone has to start making the decisions for them as they are not capable.
