HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Not naming any names, just the fact that untoward dealings were happening outside of the HBG as well as inside the HBG.
I’m not Sherlock Holmes, but it’s looking very much that way at the moment wouldn’t you say ?
I just find it interesting that you are counselling patience and an open mind re the HBG stuff, yet seem to have concluded that there is legitimate substance behind the Richo accusations. To each their own, however consistency is something to consider.

The NRL Integrity Unit has opened an investigation into Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson following a tip-off from a whistle-blower about the club's finances under the embattled CEO.

Serious concerns over the conduct of Richardson and senior staff at the Tigers have been raised, following the removal of four independent directors including chairman Barry O'Farrell.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports Richardson's seven-figure termination pay-out is under threat, after an informant raised concerns about the amount of money being paid to a company Richardson part owns with his son, Brent, for marketing, branding and digital consultancy services.

The NRL Integrity Unit has also been made aware of information regarding the employment of up to two other members of Richardson's family at the Wests Tigers.

Richardson declined to comment to the publication and reportedly had previously informed the club's board about the conflict of interest.

The Tigers CEO has reportedly identified the whistle-blower as a former staff member, and used Wests Tigers funds to send off a legal letter to the ex staffer this week.

The NRL received the tip-off through the league's private whistle-blower hotline and is understood to be in possession of evidence relating to the probe.

The Wests Tigers formerly had a whistle-blower hotline through Core Integrity, however the club decided to end its arrangement when Richardson took over from previous CEO Justin Pascoe.

Before the probe was undertaken by the NRL Integrity Unit, Richardson's future was under the spotlight, with the club's owners, Holman Barnes Group, reportedly frustrated by the lack of communication from the club CEO.
Hang on he’s done nothing wrong then . If he’s declared the conflict of interest , and they were still hired , then there’s no issue at all .
Kids of people get hired at my work all the time . Wives , brothers , Husbands etc. the person conflicted reveals the conflicting info , and the person still gets hired .
Thats simply what happens in business all the time . Is it ethical I dunno . Is it illegal , nope … they declared the conflict already .

I don’t think losing one half of our team is the answer. We must continue to respect and honour our past but seriously have to push pass the division and ego.

Maybe HBG have to go but I don’t think having a pro Balmain (Remove the pies) approach is the answer either. We are and always will be Wests Tigers. Two battlers that joined together in order to survive. I wonder how Tommy Would feel.

Me to Tuck part of the cog in motion to stir up the fans so they feel the heat.
I'm on the other side I can easily see him going especially after this mud slinging with a whistle-blower? Even Patons comments reflected a cold stance of oh well let me know by Monday.

HBG in my opinion want him gone.

I have a bit of an understanding why he and lots of others are reacting abusively and aggressively towards you Vicious.
As another poster said just recently too you...if you are not with us, you're against us, and you're not toeing the line, you're not falling in behind the great leader of the pack, so it's war.
As I am sure you would have said already, 99% of people on here are suffering from grief, fear, and the pain of losing something they loved.
The fear of losing the last piece of their identity being the Tigers brand...seems to be possibly slipping away.
And I have to say, I am very disappointed that a certain health worker hasn't been on here to try and calm things down a bit.
That’s it I am not going to dismiss the fact I was a Western Suburbs Magpies supporter, just like I don’t expect anyone to dismiss they were a Balmain Tigers supporter.
I’m from the Balmain district and over the years had more close connections to Balmain Tigers than anyone on this forum could imagine.
I now live in South-West Sydney but still regularly catch up with mates who are diehard Balmain Tigers, now Wests Tigers fans and we mostly catch up at Wests Ashfield, so it’s not hard to get some occasional gossip without even looking for it.
So as you can see the Wests-Balmain merger works perfect for me.
Anyway I call it as I see it, if others see things differently to me at times I don’t jump down their throat and tell them they wrong unless retaliating to their jibber.
I regularly interact with the best and most genuine people on this forum, yourself included and do not disrespect these people even if I disagree with them at times, so that’s all that matters to me.
I am not saying I suspect Richo of some type of wrongdoing because I want to upset people or because I don’t like him.
I have stated my theory as to why he’s potentially gone rogue with some things and if found true I don’t blame for it.
Yes we desperately need him to stay in his current role for another 12 months at least for the good of the Wests Tiigers, but if he’s found guilty of any wrongdoing life goes on, nobody is irreplaceable.

Because you wouldn’t be supporting the wests tigers anymore .. you’d be supporting the wests magpies . The “ tigers” is the inference that it’s a new club . It has its foundation in Balmain sure , but Balmain is gone , and now the clubs r support is wests tigers . I don’t want to go for wests magpies . I didn’t as a kid from the south west , I don’t now .
But here’s the thing all you magpies supporters won’t acknowledge, let’s be serious you’re the ones with the agenda , wests Ashfield is not west C-town . They’re litterally upset right now because the tigers have said they want to play the majority of thier games at C -town moving forward. ( I have my reservations about the ground re. Atmosphere and attendance , but not the general idea). As well as the orange in the jersey . Those are the “commercial decisions” they weren’t consulted about.
The problem is Everytime you hear tigers - you hear Balmain . Everytime the rest of us hear tigers we hear Wests. Which is ironic because Wests are the ones imploding the club, because just like you, they assume outdated loyalties from 25 years ago.
I want to go for the tigers . Preference is wests tigers . If they go away , then I hope easts tigers come in. Hopefully with some alignment to Balmain because that would be a nice nod to tradition . But I think I’d still support them even if that didn’t happen.
I don’t want to go for a bird. And I especially don’t want to go for a club like wests magpies , who’s associated in the nrl community with ineptitude, and barely keeping afloat.
To imply any different is to deny history. There was a reason the clubs merged . And I’ve been a big advocate of Wests. And even watched my own bias’ from Balmain shift to wests Campbelltown as I see the future there more and more . But there is no future for wests tigers in the inner west of Ashfield . That is certain!
Your wife is under 50 and has 27 grandchildren?
Good luck getting them in a Picanto.🤣
Yeh, my wife's side of the family were very fertile and so were their blokes of course.
My side of the family, not so much.
Would you believe the world record for 'stuffing people into a small car" appears to be by coincidence...27...in the famous classic Mini Minor on 18 May 2014 in Brighton U.K.

His Son,
Must have accumulated a real Big Business Acumen in a very short space of time.
He's a personal Trainer - From all I've ever seen (Was engaged to Danica Mason)

This has to be a managed demise of the Football Club.
Wow, I didn't know that.

The more I look into this, the more it wreaks.

Below is a video posted from the official Wests Tigers channel discussing both stadiums and explicitly discusses 10 year + 5 year options for both stadiums.

This was posted over 3 months ago.

Here is an announcement made on the official website on 25 August. https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2025/08/25/wests-tigers-announce-long-term-stadium-strategy/

Quote: The agreement – subject to the finalisation of detailed commercial terms – reaffirms the club’s commitment to the Inner West and South West communities that it represents on a national stage.

HBG could have jumped in at any moment around the commercial terms. They were not finalised.

The funding for both stadiums has been in the news from before Richo took over from memory. We've been trying to get upgrades for years. Why would we push for upgrades if we never intended to play there?
