We just need a real halfback demps. We havnt got a real halfback playing in our first team. Since Lui left we have tried to shoehorn 5/8 into the halfback role and none of them has ever worked. Were playing with two 5/8s atm. One needs to go to bring in a proper halfback to just direct the team around. Then Luai or whoever is 5/8 can chime in when they want. That will instantly fix our attack. They also need to make sure the 5/8 doesnt overcall the 7. Both Douhi and Luai have shown they cant run a team. Its not theyre style of play.

What we have seen of Heyward & Lanyon suggest they could back up Api.

Then add Blore to the mix.

Other than Blore, I don't think they break the finances too badly. Add depth & experience & don't block the path of juniors.

In the backs, I'd still look at bring Talau back for one of the bottom Top 30 spots.

If Papali'i can give us 20 minutes a game to rest May, if Frizell can give Twal a rest or cover wider if needed, for 20 minutes- you can rotate Sione & Pole over & over to keep their impact fresh. Blore would be a luxury. Maybe Roberts plays that role instead from within.

If Benji is seeing an issue with our defensive structure, you would assume he would step in and get it right.
Assistants are just that, there to assist, not make a final decision particularly when something is not working.
 
Watching the Rabbitohs v Knights.
Souths are fielding the worst halves combination in the NRL, but have had no trouble scoring 4 tries in the 1st half with their fullback heavily involved with 3 try assists and their edge back row and centres always looking dangerous with strong ball running, breaking tackles and scoring tries.
It’s not rocket science what positions are crucial to be scoring tries in the red zone.
I know we have a few of our edge back rowers and strike centre out injured, but so do Souths and they were smart enough to come into the season with good depth cover in these crucial positions.

I said an NRL head coach who also has to be a recruitment manager was a red flag months ago. Can’t build a roster on his own

Totally agree,
Said the same thing a few days back.
We’re short a prop - put Twal there and find a good lock option to give us something else than tackling from 13 also.

We’ve got the perfect one signed on a reserve grade contract who has already proved he has the goods…. If only he can finally motivate himself.
