LIVE GAME Round 26 v Cowboys

Live Game Discussion
Not just the bad decisions, but the contempt from Atkins when Api questioned the decisions. Didn't even want to have a discussion. Does he treat every captain like that? Somehow I can't imagine him speaking to Isaah Yeo in that manner. Api doesn't appear to be behaving outrageously.

Atkins should be dropped after that debacle. How come it is fine for one team to do something then there is no consistency a few minutes later when a similar situation occurs.

I thought people were just salty about referee Atkins. Feels like there were double standards on display tonight. The look on his face when Api is trying to talk to him looks like contempt. I don't want to see him referee our games again.
Correct. Respect works both ways including for the captain of our team who approached him in a respectful manner.

This has been the most bullshit ref display in ages . So many dubious to wrong calls . Like how the hell can you say sexton takes our Drinkwater , then literally the next set 3 cowboys players take out madden and it’s a try .
Or what if pole gets the ball in that X play near the line . Can Drinkwater dig it then ? So May gets the ball and strolls over and it’s somehow a penalty . Never ending wtf decisions keeping the ball in our half rucking it out . Such bullshit …. I hate the nrl refs . Klein is clearly corrupt af and atkins has 1000 on every home team plus minus . I’m so angry about that game
The NRL wants out of team towns in the finals, it means great audiences and $. It is entertainment and not a sport,

Bunty was on for about 15 minutes too long. Sukkar went off Hia amd we have a backrower on the bench but don’t use him.

Mason is horrible but if you’re going to select him, use him when he can actually try and do something.

ps a fly would knock Saukuru over in defence

The officiating has been absolutely putrid vomit this year. It's across all most every game I've watched as well, not just Tigers.
Absolutely pathetic. I enjoy watching my son play u10s a lot more as the officiating is much better with a 14yr old referee and 2 x 40year old Dads running the sideline.
Bunker ruins the game with calls it shouldn't get wrong and not being able to celebrate a try untils 5 minutes later when it's finally confirmed.
Rant over 🤬

Yeah he does actually. Always talks and acts like a pill to players in just about every game I’ve watched him referee. Arrogant prick.

Mak. is 19 now.
And if you think you can teach Mak; there's a chance Sak may learn as well. But a mystery how he got to this level with no feel for what's needed in defence.
Mak 'n Sak seem to have had the same defensive issues?
Not sure you can teach them speed though.
Wasn't Tupou a centre at some stage here at WT? Just a thought.
A lot of kids come through looking like stars because they physically may develop earlier or are just naturally stronger so can just run over players and dominate them in the lower grades. Its a curse cause it stops tgem from developing tge rest of their game, tgey rely on running over people. But once they make the step up, they cant just rely on the physicality anymore and thats when all the defficiencies in their game show.

Makasini was in demand from a number of clubs for a reason. Yes he does have to work on his game but he is a recently turned 19 year old, I do believe he should be played in the centres so he can work on his defence

I could cop the May no try if it was always ruled that way, which it is not. No way Drinkwater gets anywhere near May but you shouldn't be sending your prop down that channel.

The Api one was one of the worst calls I've seen in the NRL this year. Not only does Mikaele take off, API actually makes a tackling motion, he doesn't slap at the ball, he extends his arms then immediately wraps. He actually tackles Mikaele, the guy hits the ground. How can you be penalised for a slapping action when you bring the opponent down in the same motion?

Agree with Benji on the Skelton one. I can actually cop the Cowboys try where Madden gets barged, if they don't call the Skelton one a penalty. They are both the same category of potential infringement and have to be ruled the same.

I personally think the whole disruptor rule is bulldust, you should be able to ddo whatever you please if you get to the ball early enough and don't physically touch the opponent. Skelton's one he's there first and he doesn't even body-check the opponent, he just wins the ground position. Never takes his eyes off the ball and never looks at the opponent.
The disruptor is the dumbest thing iv seen in league apart from the kick off trial. If two blokes go up for the ball and one bumps the other off it and catches it whats the problem. If players intentionally get in the way of the guy attacking penalise for a shepard. Other thing i hate is why attacking teams are never penalised when there mates being tackled and they decide to help push him 5 metres up field while the defenders are holding him and the refs calling held. Or when an attackers dummy half is pulling defenders off blokes to get a quick play the ball totally taking the defender out of the play. If a dummy half cannot dive from behind a rucks legs to score how can they be allowed to do the rest. Its mind boggling.

Great summary

After Annesley and his Monday referee debrief was canned, the integrity of the referees and the bunker has lost all accountability.

Abdo and PVL didn’t want to be scrutinised for mediocrity and possible corruption, so Annesley got the chop.

I’m still shaking my head at how Ashley Klein still has a job, after his gambling history.

Agree with a lot of the complaints from the game last night. I turned over to The Chosen after 15-20 minutes because of the officiating. My blood pressure dropped instantly. Go Weststigers!

I was at the game last night and admittedly have one foot in each camp.
Firstly, I thought the Tigers played tough footy. They tried hard and scrambled really effectively. They didn’t give up. Last game I watched live, they played like scared pussies. Last night they came to kick arse and that was great to see.
The Cowboys were really quite poor, creating heaps of space and opportunities but not being able capitalise. They were clearly the more talented team but our spoiling defence really disrupted them, causing heaps of errors. Had they been on last night, there would have been a few more tries, especially attacking our left edge.
The officials were terrible and despite the claims of conspiracy on here, I thought both sides copped it, although the Tigers ones were more game defining. The Luai and May tries were legit. The bounce off the post try was pure luck.
It was a great atmosphere at the ground and despite the stop start nature of the game, was pretty entertaining.Purdue and Chester in the centres were the difference. They are both guns. Not big guys but fast and tough.
Walking out, I was annoyed but strangely didn’t really care. I guess we are so used to our games at the end of the season not mattering that when you see obvious ref mistakes it doesn’t affect you as it should. The truth is we could have won that game and with those tries scored, likely would have.
